The Science of Medical Cannabis A Conversation with Donald Abrams, M.D

PRiMe4u | 25 October 2010

The Science of Medical Cannabis A Conversation with Donald Abrams, M.D.
From ReasonTV. Produced by Paul Feine & Alex Manning.
Donald Abrams, M.D. is chief of Hematology & Oncology at San Francisco General Hospital & the co-author—with Andrew Weil—of Integrative Oncology (Oxford University Press). Abrams has extensive experience working with cancer & HIV/AIDS patients & is a pioneer in the field of medical cannabis research.

The U.S. government classifies cannabis—along with heroin & LSD—as a Schedule I drug, the most tightly restricted category of drugs in the United States. According to the federal government, Schedule I drugs are unsafe & have "no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States."

However, as medical cannabis proponents have pointed out since the Controlled Substances Act was passed by Congress in 1970, cannabis has been used medicinally for thousands of years & there has never been a reported case of a marijuana overdose. Moreover, in recent years clinical researchers around the world have demonstrated the medicinal value of cannabis.

Food in Uncertain Times

In an age of erratic weather and instability, it's increasingly important to develop a greater self-reliance when it comes to food. And because of this, more than ever before, farmers are developing new gardening techniques that help achieve a greater resilience. Longtime gardener and scientist Carol Deppe, in her new book The Resilient Gardener: Food Production and Self-Reliance in Uncertain Times, offers a wealth of unique and expansive information for serious home gardeners and farmers who are seeking optimistic advice. Do you want to know more about the five crops you need to survive through the next thousand years? What about tips for drying summer squash, for your winter soups? Ever thought of keeping ducks on your land? Read on.

Makenna Goodman: Many gardeners (both beginners and more serious growers) come across obstacles they might not have planned for. In your new book, The Resilient Gardener: Food Production and Self-Reliance in Uncertain Times, you talk about the need for real gardening techniques for both good times and bad. What is the first step toward achieving this kind of resilience?

Carol Deppe: The basic issues are getting more control over our food, getting lots higher quality and more delicious food, and enhancing the resilience of our food supply. There are three ways to do that. The first is through local buying patterns and trade. A second is through knowing how to store or process food that is available locally, whether we grow it ourselves or not. The third is gardening. In The Resilient Gardener, I talk as much about storing and using food as growing it. I love gardening, but not everyone is in a position to garden every year of their lives.

However the person who has learned to make spectacular applesauce or cider or apple butter or pies can often trade some of the processed products for all the apples needed. Buying local food supports local food resilience. A couple hundred pounds of gourmet-quality potatoes tucked away in the garage -- potatoes that you have learned to store optimally -- represent serious food security, whether you grew them or bought them from a local farmer right after the harvest. Our buying and trading patterns and our skill at storing and using food as well as gardening are all part of our food resilience. All can serve as the starting point to begin taking greater control over our food.

So the first thing I would say is, garden if you can and if you enjoy it. Whether you garden right now or not, though, learn more about how to store and use the food that is grown locally.

Washington's denying it ignored numerous cases of Iraqi torture and killing over the past six years. The allegations stem from 400,000 secret U.S. files on the war in Iraq, leaked by the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks. The documents detail U.S. forces handing prisoners over to Iraqi interrogators, despite overwhelming evidence of inhumane treatment. Many detainees were said to have died violent deaths. U.S. military officials say their orders were not to intervene directly. Washington's refusing to investigate the allegations, despite an outcry from half a dozen Arab countries. Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern says the American media's now trying to divert public attention from the WikiLeaks report, by slamming its founder Julian Assange...

Prop 19 - the Hemp Agenda

Hemp is the far bigger economic issue hiding behind legal marijuana.

If the upcoming pot legalization ballot in California were decided by hemp farmers like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, it would be no contest. For purely economic reasons, if you told the Constitutional Convention in 1787 that the nation they were founding would someday make hemp illegal, they would have laughed you out of the room.

If California legalizes pot, it will save the state millions in avoided legal and imprisonment costs, while raising it millions in taxes.

But with legal marijuana will come legal hemp. That will open up the Golden State to a multi-billion-dollar crop that has been a staple of human agriculture for thousands of years, and that could save the farms of thousands of American families.

Hemp is currently legal in Canada, Germany, Holland, Rumania, Japan and China, among many other countries. It is illegal here largely because of marijuana prohibition. Ask any sane person why HEMP is illegal and you will get a blank stare.

For paper, clothing, textiles, rope, sails, fuel and food, hemp has been a core crop since the founding of ancient China, India and Arabia. Easy to plant, grow and harvest, farmers---including Washington and Jefferson---have sung its praises throughout history. It was the number one or two cash crop on virtually all American family farms from the colonial era on.

If the American Farm Bureaus and Farmers Unions were truly serving their constituents, they would be pushing hard for legal pot so that its far more profitable (but essentially unsmokable) cousin could again bring prosperity to American farmers.

Hemp may be the real reason marijuana is illegal. In the 1930s, the Hearst family set out to protect their vast timber holdings, much of which were being used to make paper.

But hemp produces five times as much paper per acre as do trees. Hemp paper is stronger and easier to make. The Declaration of Independence was written on hemp paper, and one of Benjamin Franklin’s primary paper mills ran on it.

But the Hearsts used their newspapers to incite enough reefer madness to get marijuana banned in 1937. With that ban came complex laws that killed off the growing of hemp. The ecological devastation that’s followed with continued use of trees for paper has been epic.

This is Personal, Sarkozy!

The French are not just protesting to stop the retirement age from being raised. They are also fighting to save their country from government sleaze and the dismantling of democracy.

During his adventurous journeys across oceans and through faraway lands, Obelix, the loyal friend of Asterix in the famous French comic book series of that name, is often surprised by local customs and traditions. Whenever he encounters something unfamiliar, the fat Gaul in the blue-and-white striped pants taps his red hair and mumbles: "These Romans are crazy," or makes similar remarks about whichever nationality he happens to have encountered.

These days, as the French take to the barricades once again to protest a pension reform that appears to be necessary, one might be tempted to turn Obelix's remarks around, and ask: Are these Gauls crazy? Have the French lost their minds?

Last week, garbage collectors went on strike in Marseille, while shouting high-school students marched through the streets of Nanterre. Buses and trains remained idle in Calais, Dijon, Toulouse and Nice, where public transportation was almost shut down for entire days at a time. In 24 university cities, including Rennes, Caen, Montpellier and Grenoble, students marched out of lecture halls and became a jubilant threat to public safety on downtown streets. There was no mail delivery in Poitiers and there were no newspapers in Paris.

Because protesters had blocked access to refineries and fuel depots, more than 3,000 filling stations around the country ran out of gas. Traffic at the airports in Paris and other cities was seriously disrupted, many long-distance trains were cancelled throughout the country and truck drivers provoked traffic jams on major highways. The corresponding images, including those of small fires set by rioters, quickly circled the globe.

Those who have paid only fleeting attention to the events in France and have relied on little more than brief, hectic news reports must conclude that the French, in defiance of all reason, are fighting ferociously to keep their retirement age at 60, and not change it to 62, as the government wants to do. If this were true, one would indeed be forced to conclude that the French are mad, and France itself would have to be written off as a serious partner in Europe until further notice. But fortunately the truth looks a little different.

Yes, the French are protesting against a flawed, unfair and poorly executed pension reform, and they are angry about more than what is being touted as a number of ridiculously minor changes. At the same time, however, the resistance against this concrete reform project by a very broad, only loosely cohesive protest movement offers a welcome excuse for the French to finally vent their long-simmering frustrations with their general situation. In fact, France is currently witnessing a veritable popular uprising against a government which has been shaken by scandals and which is already over the hill after only half of its term in office. The real target of the protesters' anger is Nicolas Sarkozy, the most unpopular French president of the last 30 years...

It Just Got More Personal!

October 30, 2010 by Declan O'Shea - The French newspapers Le Point and Politis explain one reason Nicolas Sarkozy could have been so keen to pass his Pension reform.

His brother, Guillame Sarkozy is the head of Malakoff Mederic, a company created in 2008 that sells pension schemes. According to Politis, banks and insurance companies now stand to make a fortune after the reform that pushed the retirement age in France from 60 to 62.

Guillaume Sarkozy stands to gain a massive 1.2 billion euro within a few years and his company has already made preparations for the ‘windfall’.

Perhaps Nicolas Sarkozy who is so fond of ‘luxury’ is preparing a nice little retirement fund for himself in cahoots with his brother after only 5 years on the job!

The largest leak of secret U.S. military documents in history is stirring up a storm of reaction. There's outrage in Baghdad, as Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki says it threatens the balance of power in the country. The Iraq war files, published by online Whistle-blower Wikileaks, detail fifteen thousand violent deaths over the past six years - previously unaccounted for. Chris Nineham from the "Stop the War Coalition" says the U.S. occupation of Iraq has turned the country into a ticking time bomb.

Anonymous Want You - to Get Creative

As if Anonymous wasn’t already really angry to begin with, the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) court-ordered injunction to shut down Limewire earlier this week has fanned the flames even more.

In retaliation for the RIAA’s involvement in the Livewire shutdown, Anonymous has announced another DDoS attack on the organizations website, with a few added bonuses.

From the announcement posted on the Operation Payback website:

“To our fellow Anons, /b/retheren, and to the internet as a whole:

Limewire has been shut down by the RIAA.

We cannot ignore this.

They have f***** us over far too many times

If Limewire is gone today,

What’s stopping Demonoid from going tomorrow?

Or The Pirate Bay from being targeted the day after?

Or HDbits?

What’s stopping them from abusing their powers?

A private entity should not have control over the freedom of information.

When does this stop?

Anonymous says it stops right now.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t use Limewire.

Be against censorship.

Be against private corporations having more rights than the average citizen.

Be against the massive power of copyright labels”.

The attack on riaa.org is scheduled for today, the 29th of October at 4PM EST. Unlike the last time however, Anonymous is not limiting the activities to cyber pranks. The group has published the address and phone numbers for the RIAA offices as well as the personal information for the CEO and his wife. The instructions for the mission recommend prank calls and black faxes “for maximum lulz and Payback”, as well as pizza delivery orders and getting “creative”...

The Truth About Sativex by Peter Reynolds

Sativex is cannabis soaked in alcohol. Nothing more, nothing less.

GW Pharmaceuticals would have you believe that it’s a “pharmaceutical” product because according to its research that’s what patients prefer. As the GW spokesman puts it, “It’s a pharmaceutical solution, formulated with the ability to deliver a precise dose and with stringent standards of quality, safety and efficacy”.

In fact, what GW does is grow high quality cannabis under pretty much the same conditions as most illegal growers. It uses clonal propagation to ensure consistent levels of cannabinoids. Lighting and hydroponic nutrition is computer controlled with automatic ventilation. It really is no different from the most sophisticated and efficent illegal cannabis farms. It’s a recognised and proven technology now also used by Bedrocan in Holland, the Dutch government’s exclusive medicinal cannabis grower and Gropech in California. It is building a new 60,000 sq ft facility in Oakland for a crop worth $50 million per year.

GW takes its high quality cannabis, chops it up and soaks it in alcohol with the application of gentle heat. Then, with the addition of a little peppermint oil to mask the taste, the filtered liquid is packaged into tiny little aerosol bottles. Each spray delivers 2.7mg of THC and 2.5mg of CBD. What GW doesn’t tell you that it also contains all the other 60 cannabinoids found in the plant, each of which has its own mechanism of action and effect.

Illegal Grow

I applaud GW Pharmaceuticals for bringing the enormous benefits of cannabinoid therapy into the 21st century. It’s nothing new though. The medicinal value of the plant has been known and widely used for thousands of years. Only in the last century has it been demonised by lies and propaganda. It would be a mistake though to think that Sativex is anything different from the plant itself. It’s just been wrapped up in a marketing and physical package which has enabled stupid and cowardly politicians to accept it.

In fact, Sativex remains just as illegal in Britain as herbal cannabis. Even though it has received MHRA approval for use in the treatment of MS spasticity and may be prescribed by a doctor, it remains a schedule 1 drug under the Misuse Of Drugs Act. The Home Office has indicated that it intends to amend the law but has not yet done so. This means that any pharmacist who dispenses Sativex at present is guilty of exactly the same criminal offence as any street dealer in weed or hash.

Blackwater Slayings - from Wikileaks' Iraq War Logs

Shortly after 10am on 14 May 2005, a convoy of private security guards from Blackwater riding down "Route Irish" – the Baghdad airport road – shot up a civilian Iraqi vehicle. While they were at it, the Blackwater men fired shots over the heads of a group of soldiers from the 69th Regiment of the US Army before they sped away heading west in their white armoured truck. When the dust cleared, the Iraqi driver was dead and his wife and daughter were injured.

A terse, 57-word dispatch in the Iraq war logs published by Wikileaks is the first public evidence of the shooting, as recorded by the US military.

The incident is one of several dozen "escalation of force" incidents involving private security companies in Iraq – which is military parlance for an unwarranted attack, almost all of which have never been previously reported. Blackwater, the company from Moyock, North Carolina, is responsible for about half of the attacks, closely followed by Erinys, a British private security company registered in the Virgin Islands, which seems to have an unusually high number of vehicle crashes.

On my four visits to Iraq in the last seven years, I learned quickly to steer clear of the fast-moving vehicles belonging to these private security companies. The men – sporting identical reflective wrap-around sunglasses, bullet-proof jackets – would aim their high-powered assault rifles and shout "Imshi" ("Move") at any vehicle that came within a 50m perimeter. Sometimes, they would throw plastic water bottles to shock pedestrians into staying away.

Easily the best-known private security company is Blackwater (recently renamed Xe), which rocketed to fame three years ago when four company security guards, escorting a convoy of US state department vehicles en route to a meeting in western Baghdad, opened fire in Nisour Square in Baghdad killing 17 Iraqi civilians. Yet, a query of the Iraq war logs for "Blackwater" or "Nisour Square" turns up nothing, at first.

In this failure to identify what is probably the most notorious carnage of Iraqi civilians, the strengths and weakness of the military reporting process (and, by association, Wikileaks) become startlingly clear. Had the media not reported this incident, there would be no way to identify the company or the location in which this massacre took place. Initially, I wondered: was it possible that the soldier who recorded the incident made a mistake or that the record was erased?

Eventually, I tracked down the incident by trying a few other methods. It is easy to see why I missed the record: there is no mention of the company, or the location, and even the death toll is incorrectly recorded as nine, suggesting that the Pentagon casualty record is incomplete.

Human rights investigators know this problem only too well. Media reports are often incomplete and government reports are sometimes deliberately vague. They are just a starting point from which painstaking research is needed to build up a true picture of what has happened.

Quite possibly, there were many more incidents in which civilians were injured, or even killed, which were never reported. Some of the reports may have been altered before they were entered into the military system. But given the other records that I found, at the very least, Wikileaks has revealed that Blackwater and other private security companies are guilty of many more injuries and killings than the media have previously reported.

Al-Qaeda Is A Front Group For The US Military-Industrial Complex

Revelation that terror mastermind met with Pentagon officials after 9/11 serves as reminder that every attack has been run by an operative with direct ties to US intelligence

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Thursday, October 21, 2010

American-born Al-Qaeda terror leader Anwar Al-Awlaki, who met with Pentagon officials months after 9/11, is by no means the only patsy handler the Central Intelligence Agency has used over the years to oversee false flag attacks in America and around the world. In fact, just about every major terror attack has been run by an operative with direct ties to the US military-industrial complex.

As we reported this morning, Awlaki, the man who helped plot the aborted Christmas Day bombing, the Fort Hood shooting, the Times Square bombing attempt, and who also preached to the alleged September 11 hijackers, dined at the Pentagon just months after 9/11 documents obtained by Fox News show.

Awlaki is just the latest in a long list of Al-Qaeda double agents whose activity proves that the terror organization is little more than a front for the Pentagon and the US war machine. Let’s take a look at just a handful of dozens of examples of terror masterminds working for intelligence agencies.

Haroon Rashid Aswat

The alleged mastermind of the 7/7 bombings in London, Haroon Rashid Aswat, was also revealed to be an intelligence asset, in this case working for British MI6.

In July 2005, terror expert John Loftus told Fox News, “…back in the late 1990s, the leaders all worked for British intelligence in Kosovo. Believe it or not, British intelligence actually hired some Al-Qaeda guys to help defend the Muslim rights in Albania and in Kosovo. That’s when Al-Muhajiroun got started.”

Loftus said that British MI6 colluded to hide Aswat after the 7/7 bombings. Watch the clip below.

Widescreen version with updated footage designed to see off the scaremongers who wish to bypass common sense with their destructive Option A. Falmouth was just a fantasy suggestion clearly designed to impose fear amongst the spineless sheeple who were mesmerised into believing Option A was the only viable plan on the table. DUUURGHH !!! Option A by the very nature of it's name clearly demonstrates that other options didn't get a look in. Option PZ+ has much to offer regarding redevelopment of the existing harbour however my humble opinion based on common sense favours Charlie Cartwright's ideas giving Trythall Shipping the 'X' factor. Www.friendsofpzharbour.org has a comprehensive rundown of the unfolding saga and is the crucial hub for those who do not wish to see the Holy Headland of Penzance abused in such an unnecessary fashion realising that the future of the Isles of Scilly link lies within the harbour walls.
Battery Rocks and it's bijou beach have plenty of support from those prepared to stand up against the corporate bullies who clearly have dollar signs whizzing around so fast in their eye sockets that they're likely to miss the boat. Buoyed up by the truly abusive and offensive nature of the oxymoronically entitled "True Friends of Penzance Harbour", journalists are havng a field day. It's time that everyone pulled together in the interests of the local inhabitants.

Schmoogle Spies

The company has admitted it downloaded personal data from wireless networks when its fleet of vehicles drove down residential roads taking photographs for its controversial Street View project.

Millions of internet users have potentially been affected.

One privacy campaigner described the intrusion as "absolutely scandalous" and called on Google to launch a full inquiry into the affair.

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the privacy watchdog, said it would be looking into Google's admission.

Images for Street View were gathered by vehicle-mounted panoramic cameras starting in 2008.

In May this year, Google confessed the vehicles had also been gathering information about the location of wireless networks, the devices which connect computers to the telecommunications network via radio waves.

Now the California-based company has revealed that far more information was harvested than was previously thought, after privacy regulators in seven countries analysed the data.

"It's clear from those inspections that while most of the data is fragmentary, in some instances entire emails and URLs [web addresses] were captured, as well as passwords," said Alan Eustace, Google's vice-president of engineering and research.

"We want to delete this data as soon as possible, and I would like to apologise again for the fact that we collected it in the first place."

Street View pictures were taken in the UK, US, Germany and other countries. Sources told The Sunday Telegraph that Britain was among countries affected by the privacy breach.

The company archived all the material it had gathered, which included emails being sent by private individuals, the web pages they were viewing and passwords they may have entered as the Street View vehicle passed their homes.

It is believed that only wireless networks that were not password-protected were affected.

Simon Davies, director of Privacy International, said: "It's absolutely scandalous that this situation has developed and so many people have had their communications intercepted.

In March this year Google announced that 95 per cent of Britain's roads had been covered by Street View, amounting to nearly a quarter of a million miles from Penzance to the Shetland Isles.

The camera vehicles are still at work on Britain's roads, collecting new images and filling in gaps which remain in the panoramic sequences.

Skull and Bones Exposed

By Eric Samuelson, J.D. janeric@concentric.net

I am presently researching a biography on David Rockefeller. An overview of the book will soon be sent to a New York City agent for circulation among all the major publishing houses. Among the topics that will be covered is the role of British USA Round Table member Rep. Wayne Hays (Demo-Ohio) in "killing" the Reece Committee investigation of tax-exempt foundations, the disappearance of the research on the Rockefeller-funded Kinsey studies and the "disposal" threats made to Reece Investigator Norman Dodd by a lobbyist for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

For about the past ten years I have been studying secret elite groups. The average person has almost no knowledge of them and there are very few sources of information. These secret groups include the Bilderbergers, the Council on Foreign Relations, The Knights of the Garter, The Knights of Malta, The 33rd Degree Masons, the Rhodes Scholars, The Skull and Bones and the Trilateral Commission. What is needed is a historical roster of the membership of each of these groups.

The list that follows is only the first of an upcoming series of historic exposes of these secret societies. If you have any biographical information on any of these individuals, your sharing will be appreciated and reciprocated. Any suggestions or corrections appreciated.

Bilderberg Eugenics EXPOSED

UrbanWarfareChannel | 18 October 2010

The Bilderberg group and their secret and not so secret meetings have all had one main objective - how to reduce the number of people on the planet. These New World Order elitists are dictating who has the right to live and who doesn't.

ELITIST QUOTES:

"The world today has 6.8 billion people. That's heading up to about nine billion. Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent."
~ Bill Gates

"A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal."
~ Ted Turner (Founder of CNN, United Nations Foundation Chairman)

"World population needs to be decreased by 50%"
~ Henry Kissinger (Former Secretary of State & NSA, Nobel Peace Prize Recipient)

"If I were reincarnated, I would wish to be returned to earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels."
~ Prince Philip (Duke of Edinburgh)

"Childbearing should be a punishable crime against society, unless the parents hold a government license. All potential parents should be required to use contraceptive chemicals, the government issuing antidotes to citizens chosen for childbearing."
~ David Brower, first Executive Director of the Sierra Club

"In order to stabilize world population, we must eliminate 350,000 people per day. It is a horrible thing to say, but it is just as bad not to say it."
~ J. Cousteau, 1991 explorer and UNESCO courier

"We must speak more clearly about sexuality, contraception, about abortion, about values that control population, because the ecological crisis, in short, is the population crisis. Cut the population by 90% and there aren't enough people left to do a great deal of ecological damage."
~ Mikhail Gorbachev

Are You ODD?

...i know i am, and if you're reading this ODD blog, you MUST be...

...according to Psychiatric Manual DSM-IV-TR, the essential feature of Oppositional Defiant Disorder is a recurrent pattern of negativistic, defiant, disobedient. and hostile behavior toward authority figures that persists for at least 6 months, mmm, sounds like most people i know too...

Author: Brian D. Hill

It is now confirmed by USWGO News that the DSM-IV-TR Manual labels free thinkers, non conformers, civil disobedient advocates, those that question authority, and people considered hostile toward the government (aka Oath keepers and local militias) as mentally ill with the illness titled “oppositional defiant disorder” or ODD.

It was reported on October 8 2010 from OffTheGrid News that anybody who is disobedient, defiant, a free thinker, or even considered hostile toward authority was to be labeled by psychiatrists as ‘Mentally Ill’.

Now I have got my hands on a ebook version of the year 2000 version of the ‘Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders DSM-IV-TR Fourth Edition (Text Revision) By the American Psychiatric Association version DSM-TV-TR (The non TR Version was said to be older and so I got the newer one which had the information that Off The Grid News warned about).

Now as I search up the keywords “oppositional defiant disorder” on adobe reader I found exactly what Off The Grid News was talking about. So it is now Confirmed basically that anyone who disobeys authority or even questions authority is now considered mentally ill and can be thrown in a prison-like mental institution under tax payers dollars.

This isn’t the first foreign fishing vessel hijacked by Somali pirates. This year alone, Thai and Taiwanese fishing vessels were seized as well. Over the last decade the captured crews of fishing vessels caught by Somali pirates off their coast could double as a “mock UN” assembly.

International fishing fleets sail from around the world to plunder Somalia's lawless shores.

And while the mainstream corporate media sensationalizes the freighters being hijacked, ships being victimized simply for ‘passing by,’ mentions of captured fishing vessels are glazed over, explanations as to why vessels are caught half-way around the world from their home ports are absent, and the concept of “illegal fishing” is buried deep within articles. Certainly it would be difficult to explain why a South Korean vessel is fishing over 6,600 miles away from its own shores.

Indeed, the very genesis of Somali piracy was illegal fishing off their shores. According to “War is Boring,” foreign fishing fleets representing a multi-billion dollar global industry have been muscling Somali fishermen out of their own waters since 1991. But what does “War Is Boring” know? They are just “citizen journalists” after all, and besides, CNN and Fox News say the Somali pirates are terrorists, even in league with Al Qeada.

At a time when the Rick Simpson story is being questioned by the very people who should support it and who should look more deeply into it and at a time when most all cannabis activist groups are not stressing freeing the marijuana prisoners (critical not only for a just society but for the good, not government regulated, oil) pockets of real activists are nourishing their communities and standing up to the brutal task forces which are an expression throughout the country of a blood economy and monopoly, a cruel system not based on access to all of critical resources, including but not limited to the world's oldest medicinal plant. Neither taxation nor regulation addresses any change or gives us any alternative to our present growth industries: (non) health care and prisons. Instead of the land of the free and home of the brave statistics clearly show another picture: We are a land of the enslaved, cowering and fearful to stand up and our great country is becoming the home of the ill running after groups that promise a change yet deliver no real cure or hope for one - just "be safe yourself and all else will eventually be set straight....vote for blah bla blah" Stand up now for all the solutions are at hand needing only our will power to shift into a place we prefer for ourselves and all others of society.
Despite a minor win in court on October 13th 2010 Joseph Barton and his son Jay Debberman still want to appeal the judge's decision (which some feel is a victory as they were violated (AKA busted) with 47 pounds of pot and did not have to spend one day in jail). Nevertheless they still want to end the illegal and unconstitutional laws against non-violent people and allow access to the honorable profession of dealing to be available to anyone who can supply a GOOD CANCER CURING product, highly unlikely if government regulates it and continues to protect the pharmaceutical industry. We will then simply get the lousy parts of the plant ill prepared that will not produce the cure that is there with good pot and good preparation.
Even though the hippies of Woodstock are a tight group who look after their own and don't rat each other out, this victory will probably send the U.R.G.E.N.T. (Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team) into the ghettos to terrorize the low hanging fruit easier to run through the overburdened court and ever hungry prison system as they prey upon those who do not understand their rights in order to fill the new Ulster County prison just built.
This is dedicated to an activist who asked for copies of our signs in the hopes that he and others throughout the country will use them and video tape their efforts in communities throughout America....stand up to the shadows and watch them evaporate in the light. Email me at rabbitholecentral@earthlink.net for your copies of these signs (and more) and don't forget to send us any footage for me to post on this channel to document the real will of the people!

Monsanto DOWN!

Some investment analysts have annointed Monsanto, the 800-pound gorilla of the food biotechnology industry, as the worst stock of the year. Whether or not the company is really doing that badly, it is not having a good year.

For starters, its income fell by half since its last fiscal year.

That’s bad news, but there’s more. Just in the last few weeks:

  • Monsanto’s SmartStax corn which has been bioengineered to contain eight inserted genes turns out to produce yields that are no higher than those from the less expensive GM corn containing only three inserted genes.
  • Sales of Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide are way down since it went off patent. Farmers prefer to buy the cheaper Chinese generics.
  • More and more weeds are becoming resistant to Roundup. To kill them, farmers have to buy other, more toxic herbicides, defeating the whole point of using this herbicide.
  • The Justice Department has Monsanto under investigation for possible antitrust violations.

It’s almost enough to make you feel sorry for the company.

Maybe Monsanto could take the present crisis as a sign that it’s time to make some real effort to elicit public support. How about petitioning the FDA to allow GM foods to be labeled, for starters?

Hey, I can dream.

Anti-Social Police - by Peter Reynolds

The British police are out of control. Far from becoming a politically correct “service”, they’re moving more and more towards the “force” ethos, promoting their own self-interest and resisting all attempts to be subject to democratic control. The sooner we get elected police commissioners the better. Those presently in charge of the police increasingly place themselves above the law and regard the public as the opposition, not the people they are paid to protect and serve.

They’re even trying to frighten us over the spending cuts, suggesting that any reduction in police budgets will lead to increased crime and disorder. What other public service with its budget under threat uses direct fear of violence as its response? I call that scaremongering. I call it precious close to a protection racket, to blackmail and extortion.

When it comes to the brutal assault by Sergeant Delroy Smellie on Nicola Fisher or the death of Ian Tomlinson, clearly caused by PC Simon Harwood, most of us would be prepared to accept the “bad apple” argument. Yet somehow, in the Nicola Fisher case, District Judge Daphne Wickham was persuaded to refuse to hear Ms Fisher’s statement in court. Somehow, over a year and a half after Ian Tomlinson was killed, PC Harwood has still not been called to account for his actions and is still suspended on full pay. Neither have his colleagues who blatantly lied and tried to cover up what had happened. The truth is these men are not bad apples. They are the deliberate product of the Met’s Territorial Support Group (TSG). In hiding their identification and using brutal, disproportionate violence, they are entirely consistent with the culture and training that their senior officers have designed.

The Raoul Moat affair revealed how the police have lost the plot. While some officers proved their courage and worth, others indulged in an orgy of technology, expense, hiding behind their procedures and precautions. Others used banned super-Tasers, illegally obtained from their cronies in the arms industry and undoubtedly caused the death of the mad nutter. Not a bad result but achieved in a dreadful way. It was a dismal and demeaning epsiode for all concerned. See here.

Corruption is endemic in the police. It starts at the beginning of every shift and continues off duty. At its worst, it’s the disgusting spectacle of PC Stephen Mitchell in Newcastle, who inflicted his sexual desires and drug appetite on those he arrested. See here. At the everyday, commonplace level, it’s the copper who confiscates a bag of weed and takes it home to smoke himself, or who brutalises a wheelchair bound medicinal cannabis user. It’s the thugs who think it’s acceptable to terrorise and batter an old man over a motoring offence.

The police want us to believe that if they are squeezed in the spending review we will face danger, disorder and violence in the streets. Instead, what we must do is paralyse the police bureaucracy, starve it of the resources it needs to promote its self-fulfilling prophecies and force officers back onto the streets. We will pay for shoe leather but not for air conditioned limousines. We will support bobbies on the beat but not poseurs in flashy SUVs. We will not tolerate any sort of discrimination or favouritism. No officer may be a freemason or belong to any secret organsation. We must fight for the soul and integrity of our police service against the corrupt thugs that have infiltrated it.

Black Bloc in France

Violent anarchists in France who have spent the last week pointlessly smashing shop windows and setting fire to cars have “shot the protest movement in the foot” by demonizing legitimate union demonstrators and allowing the government to crackdown with paramilitary forces, according to a leading French labor expert.

...The riots have provided French President Sarkozy with the perfect justification to send in paramilitary forces to clear blockades at France’s fuel depots, and have also made his refusal to negotiate with unions look like a reasonable response.

It appears that most of the “anarchists” who have tagged themselves on to the genuine union protests are in fact a remnant of the immigrants from France’s Muslim ghettos who rioted back in 2005, violent demonstrations that were widely opposed by the majority of the French people.

During protests in Greece in 2008, police colluded with fascist groups to cause mayhem and violence that was used to justify tear gas and other brutality against genuine demonstrators.

As we have documented numerous times before, you can always count on the gangs of balaclava-wearing morons to ruin the credibility and effectiveness of any good protest.

Indeed, on many occasions their staged media stunts are often allowed to occur unimpeded by authorities to provide the press with images of gratuitous violence which can they be played endlessly and used to demonize legitimate protesters.

We have documented numerous different examples where the black bloc anarchists were completely infiltrated by the authorities to provide a pretext for a police state crackdown.

The union workers in France should immediately distance themselves from the actions of the self-proclaimed anarchists if they are to have any hope of success.

Every time a car is set alight or a shop window shattered, the state gets another opportunity to castigate the entire protest movement as a hoard of violent extremists, and with it meter out a more brutal and oppressive police response.

Puzzle Pieces by Sarah Martin

Here's the joy in figuring out what to do with all those random snippets of information we acquire through life.

Something I read or saw on a YouTube video seems to have provided me with vital insight. Some say there is evidence to suggest that monks shaved their heads to get high until the church's choice switched to wine. I'm inclined to agree with this as I've 'experienced' the anointing oil they are said to have used to speak with God. The imagination does not have to be stretched much does it? These Holy men were high. Plain and simple.

How could I apply this knowledge to my health? I have been trying to beat a lifelong sinus problem by massaging the oil into my face and neck, paying close attention to sinus tracks. I've also been massaging it directly into painful areas with startling results. When used on my neck and face it left me feeling high, suggesting that not only pain and spasm relief could be achieved by absorption through the skin.

For the past two nights, I have been soaking most of my head in some quite powerful anointing oil. Almost immediately, my sinuses relaxed and began to clear. The cannabis could be dealing with an infection or relaxing muscles or both. Who knows? We need science to jump in about here.

Cannabis massage/anoiting oil. Made to a recipe from Biblical times.

They are catching up, believe me.

The anointing oil on my head definitely had a positive effect on cognition and balance. I was talking more, making plans for the next day and beyond with ease. It was made all the easier by the fact that my body is also performing even better. Throughout this journey I have been asking myself if I'm doing the right thing. We all know cannabis has been around a while and killed nobody with it's toxicity. However, science has moved on and with it, it seems, the Human desire to experiment.

Ownership in the Digital Age

Buying stuff used to be so simple: you gave money to a merchant and in return you received a product.

But times have changed, society has moved on, and the concept of ownership has undergone a rather radical shift. The problem is, nobody ever told us.

The rise of the digital age has brought with it a wealth of new types of products and new ways of interacting with them. Nowadays we've got MP3 players loaded with music, ebook readers containing the latest novels, iPads and smartphones, downloadable videogames and web applications.

All these modern products are essentially still just that: products. A company makes them and sells them and eventually they end up in the hands of you, the consumer.

What has changed is that due to their built-in internet connectivity, all these products aren't as static as they used to be. Where once you bought a novel or an album, it was static and unchanged. If the book had a misprint, it wouldn't just magically disappear overnight. If the album had 11 tracks, it wouldn't suddenly have 10 tracks the next day.

But modern technology changes the static nature of stuff. Nothing is solid and immutable any more. Everything can, and does, change.

Amazon's Kindle ebook reader has built-in features that allow Amazon to make changes to - or even entirely remove - the ebooks that you purchase, without your consent or even your initial knowledge.

Apple's iPhones and iPads as well as Google's Android mobile phones have built-in features that allow Apple and Google to remove apps that you've downloaded via their respective app stores. Apple can also use its iTunes store to remove music that you've purchased if they deem it necessary.

You no longer own the product that you bought. Instead you are leasing the product, paying for the privilege of using it, subject to the continued good graces of the product's manufacturer. They can, and do, remove your access to the product if they believe you have violated their EULA (End User Licence Agreement).

The boundaries of ownership have changed. Corporations are keenly aware of it, and have been (ab)using and expanding this new system of corporate ownership of your stuff so that nowadays almost everything you buy that is digitally enhanced and online-capable is never truly yours.

Gene Simmons Attacked!

October 17, 2010
Today is proving to be a very active day for Operation: Payback. First, GeneSimmons.com and SimmonsRecords.com was attacked. Unlike the first time, this was a united attack, which resulted in failure of both sites. Now, followers of Operation:Payback have attacked ACAPOR.pt. ACAPOR is a Portuguese outfit that looks out for the interests of movie rental establishments. And as it so happens, according to TorrentFreak, ACAPOR filed a complaint with the Portuguese Ministry of Culture against The Pirate Bay last month.

That made the site a prime target - as hackers have precipitated yet another attack. No, the site wasn't DoS'd, but it appears that another vulnerability was found, much like the MPAA's CopyProtected.com. In the continuing effort of Operation:Payback, the site has been compromised. If one visits ACAPOR.pt, the Operation:Payback manifesto is displayed. Within about 30 seconds, the site then redirects to The Pirate Bay.

We're not sure of the exact vulnerability exploited, as this is a fluid news event that we'll update as news comes in.

What a Starr! - Jim Fixes It! Medical Cannabis in the UK

Last week Jim Starr flew into Bristol Airport from Amsterdam carrying 80 grammes of herbal cannabis as prescribed for him by a Dutch doctor. That’s just under three ounces of dried flower heads. He was carrying it in a parcel about the size of a telephone directory.

There was no one at customs, even though Jim went through the red channel and had telephoned ahead to advise the airport that he was bringing the cannabis in. He waited, even looked around for someone, anyone, but there was no one to be seen at all. He wanted to declare what he had with him. He’s never wanted to break the law. He knew that he was risking confiscation of the cannabis, possibly even arrest but the coast wasn’t just clear, it was deserted. The authorities had evidently decided that in their “war on drugs”, this time, discretion was definitely the better part of valour. They were in full scale retreat.

Jim had confirmed to the airport that he had the necessary paperwork to prove it was prescribed medicinal cannabis. His doctor had told him that he was protected under Article 75 of the Schengen Agreement which states “persons may carry the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances that are necessary for their medical treatment provided that, at any check, they produce a certificate issued or authenticated by a competent authority”

Prescription

Of course, even then, it didn’t stop the journey being a nerve wracking and tense experience. Now, safely at home in Dorchester with his family, Jim understands from the Home Office that he is entitled to bring in the cannabis as prescribed for him by his Dutch doctor. He can bring in up to three month’s supply at a time if he carries it on his person. Otherwise he has to apply for an import licence and have it shipped to a UK pharmacist.

All Together - Millions on Streets in France

Hundreds of thousands of people marched in cities across France on Saturday in the latest protests against President Nicolas Sarkozy's flagship pension reform.

Government estimates put the total number of protesters at around 850,000, while unions said between 2.5 million and 3 million had taken to the streets.

The French president is determined to stand firm on his plans to raise the retirement age, but unions have staged weeks of nationwide demonstrations to try to force him to back down. Five-day-old rail and refinery strikes are piling pressure on the government by disrupting travel.

Public and private sector employees and students marched in dozens of cities, with the biggest crowd assembling in Paris. The mood was upbeat, with disco music blaring, horns honking and chants of "All Together."

“The government must back down or things will get ugly, they warn,” said FRANCE 24’s Aurore Dupuis, covering the event in Paris.

France's powerful trade unions were hoping for a similar turnout to their last weekend rally on Oct. 2, which they said drew nearly 3 million people nationwide, though police estimates were lower.

"We have several million people in the street who support us and believe in us," said CFDT union leader François Chérèque, at the main protest in Paris. "The only one blocking the country is the government."

Five straight days of strikes over the unpopular reform have cut train services and grounded flights. Walkouts at oil refineries have hit supply at nearly 2 percent of France's petrol stations. Officials at Roissy Charles de Gaulle, the main Paris airport, say fuel supplies there could run out by Monday evening.
