UK Man Wins Court Victory Over BBC for 9/11 Coverup Broadcast

Activist Post

Tony Rooke refused to pay a TV license fee because the BBC intentionally misrepresented facts about the 9/11 attacks, he alleged. It is widely known that the BBC reported the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 over 20 minutes before it occurred. WTC 7 was a 47-story skyscraper that was not hit by a plane on 9/11 but collapsed at free-fall speed later that day.

So Rooke said the BBC had to have had prior knowledge to a terror attack making them complicit in the attack. He presented the BBC footage to the judge along with a slew of other evidence, and the judge agreed that Rooke had a reasonable case to protest. Rooke was found not guilty and he was not fined for failure to pay the licensing fee.
Below is the broadcast where the BBC announced the collapse of WTC 7 while it was still standing behind the reporter.

ATOS profits pile up while misery for disabled grows

At last, the big bucks to be made out of forcing disabled people through humiliating tests to cut their benefit are out in the open, thanks to detective work by a member of the Scottish parliament.
The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has consistently refused to publish details of its contracts with French IT firm ATOS who are pushing two million people through benefit cut tests, claiming commercial confidentiality.
Nevertheless, Kevin Stewart, member of the Edinburgh parliament for Aberdeen, made a demand under freedom of information to see papers relating to the ATOS contract for Scotland and northern England.
A risk assessment document produced by ATOS arrived in his in box with the figures removed as usual. But by transferring it into a different text format – bingo, the truth popped out.
And so it transpires that if ATOS can push 15% more people than their target through the humiliating and meaningless tests, their profits will soar to £40m on a £207m contract. Even if they fall 15% below target they will still make £28m.
The total value of ATOS UK-wide contracts is £400m. That suggests that they will make a profit of between £55m and £82m on the whole contract.
The ATOS profit of £82m alone would pay disability living allowance for more than 20,000 people a year. If you take the value of the whole contract, it could pay for 22,000 people for five years.
The government must be looking for a huge number of people to be forced off benefit, if the whole process is to be worthwhile. The DWP has always refused to put a figure on it, but campaigners believe the government wants to reduce by half the 3.2 million who currently receive the benefit.
So that’s the cost-benefit-risk analysis – which shows there is absolutely no risk at all for greedy ATOS. But what about the actual real-life costs:
More than 40% of appeals against ATOS rulings succeed, and when you look only at those who appealed with help from the Citizens Advice Bureau, that rises to a staggering 70%.
The decisions being made are beyond belief:
Aaron Moon lost his leg when a soldier in Afghanistan. He only just survived a massive number of injuries. Some days he can’t get his prosthetic limb on because it’ so painful. He’s deemed fit for work.
Colin Traynor was deemed fit for work. He had never been able to get a job because of his frequent epileptic seizures. His appeal was upheld, but by that time Colin had died from a massive seizure – his parents say his condition was exacerbated by stress.
From Facebook posts we find a man who this week is in hospital having treatment on his injured spine – and next week he will hear whether his appeal has been successful.
Another woman posts that she had her eighth heart attack on the way from the test centre to the taxi rank. During the test the doctor said the blood pressure machine must be broken, because “you look fine”. The women got home from hospital 10 days later to find she had been deemed fit for work and her benefits stopped.
Last year, 1,100 people who failed the test never managed to get a job because they died.
Remember it was a Labour government that replaced incapacity benefit and income support for new claimants with Employment Support Allowance in 2008. And Labour will continue the attack on welfare if it wins the next election.
Communities need to unite to defend people from these cruel tests. But the truth is that even a universal boycott – people refusing to go, DWP staff refusing to implement the decisions – will not prevent the government from forging ahead, though action on this issue by benefits and health professionals is long overdue.
We need to make a political change, to a democratic society where every citizen is supported to make the best of their life, to contribute what they can, and everyone receives enough of society’s shared resources to live well. Removing the power of vulture corporations like ATOS to profit from misery would be a crucial step towards this.

New study suggests humans are not naturally violent

J.G. Vibes
Activist Post

A new study published last month in Nature Journal suggests that humans are naturally good. This study adds to the mounting evidence against the popular misconception that corruption is a trait of human nature.

In ten experiments using economic games, scientists observed that faster decisions result in more cooperation and generosity, while slower, calculated decisions show a decrease in cooperation and generosity. The conclusion is that the automatic reaction is to be friendly, generous and cooperative, and only upon further consideration do humans become greedy or violent.

From the study:
“To explain these results, we propose that cooperation is intuitive because cooperative heuristics are developed in daily life where cooperation is typically advantageous. We then validate predictions generated by this proposed mechanism. Our results provide convergent evidence that intuition supports cooperation in social dilemmas, and that reflection can undermine these cooperative impulses.”
Any scientific studies these days should be taken with a grain of salt, because we are without a doubt living in an era of soviet style science, where state and corporate entities are using the scientific establishment to project a particular worldview into the mainstream consciousness. This is why it is important to always look for funding sources and seek many different avenues of research. However, in this case, this particular study is just one of many proposals put forward by the scientific community in the past several decades stating confidently that corruption has nothing to do with human nature, as the popular misconception states.

The first time this issue was brought up in the mainstream scientific community was in 1986 when scientists from around the world got together to discuss the psychological and biological evidence proving that human nature is no excuse for violent behavior. The findings that were released came to be known as “The Seville Statement”.

This statement made 5 propositions, which are:
1. “It is scientifically incorrect to say that we have inherited a tendency to make war from our animal ancestors.”
2. “It is scientifically incorrect to say that war or any other violent behavior is genetically programmed into our human nature.”
3. “It is scientifically incorrect to say that in the course of human evolution there has been a selection for aggressive behavior more than for other kinds of behavior.”
4. “It is scientifically incorrect to say that humans have a ‘violent brain’.”
5. “It is scientifically incorrect to say that war is caused by ‘instinct’ or any single motivation.”
Since the Seville statement there have been many more studies reconfirming the propositions put forward. Just this past February a new study by a biologist named Frans de Waal showed that animals are naturally prone to cooperation when in the right circumstances.

As I discussed in the article Human Nature a Self Fulfilling Prophecy, the actions that people carry out today, and the actions that have been carried out throughout history are the result of environmental factors, as well as psychological trauma and manipulation, they can not be chalked up to “human nature”.

To chalk the violence that we see around us up to human nature, is to avoid admitting there is a problem, thus preventing any progress from being made towards peace. If we think that human beings are dangerous and violent creatures, then some of us will be able to rationalize and justify malevolent behavior by writing it off as human nature, instead of condemning it as we should.

If we actually condemn this behavior instead of making empty excuses for it, we will without a doubt drastically lower the level of violence on this planet. Individually, and as a species, we can only go as far as our imagination will take us. We are only capable of what we can imagine, and if all we can imagine is violence, submission, and domination, then that’s all were ever going to get.

BBC Uses a 2003 Picture from Iraq to Incite War Against Syria

When it is time to justify the invasion of a country that is of no threat to Allied forces, mass media deception kicks into high gear to sway public opinion. Only a few years after the “Watch-out-Saddam-is-gonna-nuke-us-all-with-weapons-of-mass-destruction” fabrication, mass media is now being flooded with horrible stories from Syria to incite people in Western countries to think “I hope we go in there and clean up this mess”. However, as it is often the case in war propaganda, lies, fabrications and deceit are used to justify military action.

A recent example of this is the BBC using a horrifying picture from 2003 in Iraq to illustrate an alleged massacre that happened in Houla, Syria. When a “reputed” news source such as BBC gets caught using fake pictures to demonize a country, one can wonder what other fabricated BS appears in the news and goes unnoticed. Here’s an article on BBC’s “mistake”.

Oops, BBC: Iraq photo to illustrate Houla massacre?

With the shock of the Houla tragedy ringing across the world, the BBC has released a story with a harrowing picture of rows and rows of children’s bodies awaiting burial… But isn’t that post-Saddam Iraq?

Photographer Marco di Lauro who took the shot grabbed by the BBC says he nearly “fell off his chair” after finding the picture on the network’s website with a caption reading: “Photo from Activist. This image – which cannot be independently verified – is believed to show bodies of children in Houla awaiting funeral.

The picture was actually taken on March 27, 2003; it depicts an Iraqi boy jumping over dozens of white body bags containing skeletons found in a desert south of Baghdad. The image, which is published on Marco di Lauro’s website, is part of his story Iraq, the Aftermath of Saddam.

Marco di Lauro takes photographs for Getty Images picture agency, his works have been published across Europe and the US. But the indication that the BBC picked his image from the internet, not from official stock worries him somewhat.

What I am really astonished by is that a news organization like the BBC doesn’t check the sources and it’s willing to publish any picture sent it by anyone: activist, citizen journalist or whatever. That’s all,” the photographer told The Daily Telegraph.

Someone is using someone else’s picture for propaganda on purpose,” he added.

A BBC spokesman says the picture, illustrating Sunday night’s story “Syria Massacre in Houla Condemned as Outrage Grows,” was taken down “immediately” when the source was identified.

We were aware of this image being widely circulated on the internet in the early hours of this morning following the most recent atrocities in Syria. We used it with a clear disclaimer saying it could not be independently verified,” he added.

These words about information “which cannot be independently verified” have become a trademark of media coverage of the 14-month conflict in Syria. Before UN special envoy Kofi Annan brought his peace plan to the troubled Arab country, the Syrian government had remained reluctant to open borders to most international journalists.

But even now the bulk of information comes from people calling themselves opposition activists – via amateur videos uploaded to YouTube or eyewitness reports.

But sometimes it looks that the mantra “cannot be independently verified” serves as a disclaimer to publish information which wouldn’t stand a chance of ever being verified.

Supermoon

From Digital Tibetan Buddhist Altar: "Saturday, 5 May 2012 at 3.35pm GMT in the UK will witness this year's 'supermoon,' coinciding with a full moon, and if you have never witnessed one, now is a chance you won't want to miss." The Supermoon occurs when the moon's perigee (closest point to Earth) coincides with the full moon phase. There is a short NASA video on the Supermoon here.

The moon will likely outshine the annual Eta Aquarid meteor shower, which willl also be hitting its peak. Conspiracy theorists claim that Supermoons cause earthquakes. But astronomers and seismologists deny this. The Digital Tibetan Buddhist Altar also has an eastern astrological assessment of this full moon. For a western astrological view, see Aurium Astrology, here.

First Newspapers, Now TV – the Internet Reformation Rolls On

by Staff Report

Citibank Says It's 'Flummoxed' By Ratings Collapse In Cable TV ... Citibank entertainment media analyst Jason B. Bazinet and his team wrote in a note to investors today that they are baffled by the audience ratings decline they're seeing in cable TV. Citi downgraded CBS, Disney, Discovery, News Corp and Scripps from "Buy" to "Neutral" in the note after concluding that the ratings falloff was accompanied by a similar decline in the growth of ad dollars being spent on cable. Citi left Time Warner and Viacom as "Buys." Cable continues to grow revenues, up 8 percent (compound annual growth rate) since 2008, on Citi's numbers. That's more than the media sector as a whole, which only grew 2 percent. Audience ratings, however, are in a tailspin. – Business Insider

Dominant Social Theme: Newspapers and magazines are having trouble because of the Internet. But it is just a passing phase.

Free-Market Analysis: Citibank entertainment media analyst Jason B. Bazinet is in the news today. He wrote to investors that he simply cannot account for the slump in cable TV viewers.

As a result, he downgraded CBS, Disney, Discovery, News Corp and Scripps from "Buy" to "Neutral." This is no small thing. Ads follow viewers. Fewer viewers, fewer ads – and less ad dollars.

He notes that in aggregate, cable TV is up some eight percent since 2008, when the ongoing "depression" began to gather steam. But revenues are not ratings. Audiences continue to slump, and over time this bodes ill for the industry.

What could be causing the malaise? He cited a combination of "Netflix, warmer weather, job gains, lack of hit shows, and faulty Nielsen measurement." But here's the bottom line: "While we've tried to quantify these sources ... we can't explain the entire ratings shortfall."

Gee, a leading media analyst can't figure out why cable TV – and the visual media generally – is in a slump? How about the Internet?

The Internet is perhaps the "fifth communication technology wave," as we see it. There are plenty of nuances involoved in such a statemet, but in our view it constitutes at least a rough description.

What were they? Well, perhaps the first was rock painting, the second was carved tablets, the third paper and ink (papyrus), the fourth book printing and the fifth ... electronic communication technology. But this fully came into its own with the Internet, which is a fundamental adaption, whereas TV, phones, etc. were not.

We've discussed what's going on via a paradigm that we call the Internet Reformation. We've long argued that the Internet Reformation is as fundamental as the Gutenberg Press that brought tremendous changes to the world.

These include the Renaissance, the Reformation and the populating of the New World as well as the advent of the scientific method and the gradually diminishment of the Roman Catholic Church as the world's ultimate arbitrator.

Some will say that the Internet is merely a tool, but human beings are tool-using creatures and tend to define their societies by the tools they use. Tools, in other words, can be transformative. Here's some more from the article:

Citi cited a combination of Netflix, warmer weather, job gains, lack of hit shows, and faulty Nielsen measurement as possible culprits. Bazinet et al then concluded: "...while we've tried to quantify these sources, the bottom line is that we can't explain the entire ratings shortfall. We are flummoxed."

Here's one possible solution: People aren't watching cable anymore because they're using their cable service to play on the internet instead. I've argued for month now that the TV business as a whole is now sliding down the same slope that ruined the newspaper business: People abandoning old, expensive media for cheap, new web media.

This is a big deal and it's probably true. The global elites have literally depended on their media distribution network to promote certain dominant social themes. The end-game is global governance.

But much as the Gutenberg Press undermined the system set up by the powers-that-be 500 years ago, so the Internet is doing the same sort of thing now. This bodes poorly for the kind of mind control that the elites exercised in the 20th century. It is another reason to be hopeful about the future.

Conclusion: The Internet is NOTHING like TV. It is an active interrelationship more akin to reading than a passive one, like TV. The transformation of society's messaging continues apace, and this is surely not to the liking of the power elite. But the Internet is a process not an episode.

US Software Writer Tells How He Wrote Election-Rigging System

Mr Curtis (Clinton Eugene) a Software programmer who worked for NASA, Exxon Mobil & the US Department of Transportation in a sworn-oath deposition testifies that US elections are rigged by inserting software into the voting system. The timing of this deposition was just after George W Bush being re-elected president of the United States. We are not surprised that this never made it into the main stream media.

Mr Curtis goes on to name US Representatives who attempted to pay him to rig their election vote counts.

He says that it is easy to install a small software program into the voting system that will flip the count 51 to 49 to whoever you wanted to win an election. He goes on to say that these small programs are undetectable utilising no more than 100 lines of code, which is minimal. Mr Curtis stated “No one would ever see it, unless you have access to the source code or you were able to count the hard copy votes and compare them to the electronic count”

The Great Gibson Guitar Raid: Months Later, Still No Charges Filed

Uploaded by on 23 Feb 2012

"They...come in with weapons, they seized a half-million dollars worth of property, they shut our factory down, and they have not charged us with anything," says Gibson Guitars CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, referring to the August 2011 raid on his Nashville and Memphis factories by agents from the Departments of Homeland Security and Fish & Wildlife.

The feds raided Gibson for using an inappropriate tariff code on wood from India, which is a violation of the anti-trafficking statute known as The Lacey Act. At issue is not whether the wood in question was endangered, but whether the wood was the correct level of thickness and finish before being exported from India. "India is wanting to ensure that raw wood is not exported without some labor content from India," says Juskiewicz.

Andrea Johnson of the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) counters that "it's not up to Gibson to decide which laws...they want to respect." She points out that Gibson had previously been raided under The Lacey Act for imports from Madagascar.

This much is clear: The government has yet to file any charges or allow Gibson a day in court to makes its case, much less retrieve its materials. "This is not about responsible forestry and sustainable wood or illegal logging, this is about a bureaucratic law," argues Juszkiewicz, who testified last year before a congressional hearing convened by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). It is, he says, "a blank check for abuse."

FREE ROBERT GREEN - one year in prison for 'handing out pamphlets'.

by Mike Philbin

I was watching BBC's The Culture Show last night on the resurgence in the Art of Pamphleting, and (apparently) it's just like being back in good-old Victorian England, mideers. All the best writers/journalists are doing it. Pamphleting's a great platform from which to launch a controversial viewpoint or get across a non-mainstream or publisher-unfriendly opinion. It's the latest thing, darling, dontchaknow...

Well, Robert Green is the man behind the Justice for Hollie Greig case; the Down's Syndrome girl who claims to have been systematically used as a child-rape-toy by prominent members of the Scottish establishment. I met Robert at last year's Abel Danger "victory meal", at the Kings Arms here in Oxford (which I arranged) and found him to be a lovely man; soft spoken, considered. He even gave a short interview on camera to Sue Freeman's which was 'live streamed'.

Here's an excerpt from Robert Green's last blog entry before his (kafkaesque) trial:

This week it was announced that Liam Gibson, described as one of Scotland`s most notorious purveyors of child pornography, was spared a jail sentence despite Lothian & Borders Police discovering 50,000 images of child pornography at his home.

In 2009, Douglas Haggarty QC, a senior member of the Legal Aid Board with the responsibility and influence in deciding if I should be granted legal aid, was found to have committed a sexual act with a 17-year-old male prostitute in the public toilet of British Home Stores, St Enoch Centre, Glasgow on a Saturday afternoon at a time when the store was full of families out shopping. Mr Haggarty was not only spared prison, but was allowed to retain his lucrative job in a position of public trust.

In 2001, when Elish Angiolini was busy covering up over Hollie`s allegations, in an unrelated case, a 22-year-old man who admitted to raping a 10-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy was allowed to walk free. This was reported in The Times and The Telegraph in May of that year. Angiolini was subsequently forced into a public apology for her incompetence. This monumental blunder did not prevent her climbing to the highest office in the justice system.

Pamphleting, or handing out information such as this, in the streets now carries a ONE YEAR jail sentence, as handed down (not by a jury trial) but by a single judge acting on behalf of all judges, one imagines, Sheriff Principal Edward Bowen. Well, Judge Bowen came down on Robert Green like a TON OF BRICKS and handed out a ruthless one-year jail sentence for Green's heinous public pamphleting campaign of terror. And let this be a lesson to you all - no one wants the truth out. And they will arrest, detain, claim terrorist on ANYONE who gets in their way. Got that, slave?

Robert Green is currently being held at HMP Aberdeen and he's suggested that people contact his Member of Parliament (David Mowat) at david.mowat.mp@parliament.uk to get this matter raised with the proper authorities, like that'll do much good.

Happy Tibetan New Year

2012 will cross cultures: A Czech Tibetan Buddhist New Year's card. Image Source: Brozkeff's Mandala.

Also known as Losar, the Tibetan Buddhist New Year festival is celebrated for 15 days, starting on the first day with drinking a kind of beer called chhaang. The holiday is celebrated in Tibet, Nepal and India and has pre-Buddhist origins. These origins reflect yet another the ancient connection between astronomy, astrology, and the way we measure time. Wiki: "The festival is said to have begun when an old woman named Belma introduced the measurement of time based on the phases of the moon. ... Later when the rudiments of astrology, based on the five elements, were introduced in Tibet, this farmer's festival became what we now call the Losar or New Year's festival." This is the year of the Male Water Dragon and the year is 2139 by the Tibetan count.

The New Year is also associated with predictions. On the occasion of the New Year, the Dalai Lama consults with the Nechung Oracle, who is the Chief State Oracle of Tibet. The Oracle has traditionally made a number of prophecies about the future. Two unrelated Tibetan prophecies for 2012 are online here. You can see them translated and discussed at Digital Tibetan Buddhist Altar. The prophecies appear to talk of an alignment of stars, fire from the sky, and possible floods. But it seems that these things can refer to metaphors, or astrological signs of key players, and many of the words in the prophecies have double meanings. It's an inexact science; the blogger who translates these particular prophecies insists that they depend heavily on interpretation:
"[In] the Water-Dragon Year [which is the year 2012, the world will be] destoyed by overseas [kha chus=chu khas] [enemies], (or alternatively, by the water/flow (chus) of karmic retribution [kha]) [stemming from evil] intentions of previous aspiration (sngon mos), in global/globular (dum bu) holocaust" ...

On the other hand, given the multiple meanings of _chu kha_ and _kha chu_, it could mean simply that someone who reaches sixty years of age, or is born in 2012, gets a urinary tract infection or becomes a urologist: _kha chus_ 'saliva'+ _gzhig_ 'analyzes' means _chu khar_ 'urethra'+ _gzhig_ 'disintegrates', or rather _chu kha_'urethras'+_gzhig_' examines'.
All joking aside, that this prophecy refers to our times is made clear in this text at the middle of page 1 line3:
/bgrang bya bcu bdun them skas la/
/'dzegs na ngal gso'i gnas su bde//

'If one climbs the staircase of the seventeenth enumeration' -- ie, to the end of the seventeenth sexagenary cycle --'there is happiness at a place of relief'. If we can only get through this one...
/thun dong dug mun 'khrigs pas 'grib/

"The [time] interval (thun) is obscured by gathering [clouds] of poison darkness (dug mun)"

I.e. by afflictions of the dark age.

/mkhar nag rtsa bar drug sprul 'khyil/

"Six snakes coil at the foundation of the black castle"

mKhar nag probably means (rgya) gar/dkar and (rgya) nag, ie India and China, meaning the prophecy refers to them. (Incidentally, 'Dragon' could be shorthand for 'China' and 'Tiger' for India, etc). Six snakes means a time interval spanning six snake years. In the case of this prophecy that would mean 1977-2037 (both fire snake years) or to include the entire seventeenth sexagenary cycle that we're in now, 1977-2043.

The previous 'six snakes coiled' implies this will happen around or in the middle of ('khyil 'surrounded by) the middle of the seventeenth cycle of 60 years or rather, in the middle of six snake-years 1977-2037 inclusive. I.e., around 2007 or a couple of years later. ...
/g.yung pos ba gam ser chen 'dril/

'The Outcasts (candala=g.yung po) swarm around a great golden-domed palace (ba gam = pho drang)' meaning perhaps a temple, cathedral, mosque, executive mansion, Capitol, etc. ...

I read the above and I am left with an image of biblical-level, cataclysmic flooding, set to occur during the period ruled by a particular constellation, perhaps triggered by a meteor smashing into the ocean. A really, really big tsunami, maybe?
The above discussion on 2012 Tibetan prophecies was written in 2009. You can see extended Tibetan astrology for the year 2012 (i.e. 2139) here; an excerpt:
I feel there will be at least one extremely dramatic "world-altering" event that will influence us for many years to come. Travel and international relations will be in the forefront, whether conventionally, or as symbolized by increased use of the Internet to foster growth and change. Indeed, there will most definitely be "change," but not everyone will be happy. Conflicts of the "flare-up," or "brush fire" type are strongly indicated. Change will be rapid and unpredictable.

I can foresee issues with North Korea and Iran. I do not see how conflict in Uddiyana can be avoided. There will be violence associated with terrorism, and violence associated with repression. A military "show of force" is highly likely, and may extend to the nuclear realm.

Finance will be a constant theme throughout the year. There will likely be wide fluctuation, and high-profile bankruptcy. Markets will become volatile. You can expect China to make bold moves this year, as they begin to experience some of the challenges of their overheated economy. There will be incredible competition for natural resources and raw materials. Firms that recycle will see windfall profits, as they benefit from legislation. The environment will also make headlines several times during the year, particularly in the area of floods, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions.

There will be incredible advances and inventions in science and technology, and the possibility of a medical breakthrough.

On the downside, this year can see challenges in the entertainment industry, and a sudden jump in the divorce rate.
The start date of Losar depends on your time zone. Some places will not begin celebrating until February 22.

BBC are Corporate-Paid Propagandists

by Tony Cartalucci

February 14, 2012 – It has been recently reported by the Independent, that the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) “will today apologise to an estimated 74 million people around the world for a news fixing scandal, exposed by The Independent, in which it broadcast documentaries made by a London TV company that was earning millions of pounds from PR clients which it featured in its programming.”

While The Independent focuses on scandals revolving around the Malaysian government, members of Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak’s regime, and corporations like Microsoft, the reek of propaganda wafting off from all that BBC involves itself with has been a case study for years.

Three overtly suspect projects BBC recently backed immediately come to mind, including “Thailand: Justice Under Fire” together with “Secret Pakistan,” and “The Lady,” regarding US and British-funded Myanmar proxy, Aung San Suu Kyi. These three “works” have been exposed as overt propaganda, peddling an agenda rather than anything resembling objective documentaries. BBC’s “Secret Pakistan,” for example, literally attempted to rewrite 10 years of history where Pakistan, rather than Al Qaeda or “Bin Laden” was retrospectively made responsible for the ongoing violence in Afghanistan and the death of Western troops.

And while The Independent offers up their handful of negligible admissions regarding Malaysia, Egypt, and Microsoft, exposing how special interests compromised BBC’s “integrity,” the special interests behind other BBC “documentaries” are easily identified, granted you do not watch them in suspended disbelief, accepting everything as truthful, and fully trusting in BBC’s obviously non-existent credibility.

BBC is not only guilty of making fraudulent, deceitful propaganda dressed up as “documentaries,” but their general “reporting” is also a breathtaking daily assault on truth, objectivity, and journalistic integrity. No where can this be seen better than in BBC’s coverage of the events in Egypt and Libya last year, and in particular illustrated in an excerpt from February 2011′s “Libya Conquered in the Dark: BBC’s Breathtaking Propagandizing:”

Unlike in Egypt, where US International Crisis Group trustee Mohamed ElBaradei was talking daily to international reporters on the ground, and AlJazeera provided 24 hour coverage, Libya is a virtual blackhole. The mainstream media is relaying hearsay from “Libyan” bloggers and protesters on the ground. The tell-tale quotation marks peppering reports coming out of BBC and AlJazeera and a litany of weasel words indicate that the “revolution” will be feed to the public in the most disingenuous and unsubstantiated manner possible.

Unfortunately, when all we have to depend on during a crisis is the honor of the corporate owned media, where BBC itself is a major corporate member of the globalist nexus Chatham House, nothing can be trusted and we are left in confusion and uncertainty. Far too many people, however, will still fall for the thin veneer of legitimacy the mainstream media’s slick graphics and well-dressed shills lend it.

BBC’s latest article regarding Sayf al-Islam’s address to the nation gives us an astounding example of the mainstream media forcing the scant facts coming out of Libya into a predetermined narrative to suit the global-combine’s interests. In his address to the Libyan nation, Sayf al-Islam accused opposition groups and outsiders of trying to transform Libya, that the foreign media was grossly exaggerating the government’s response to protesters, and compared the unrest to an Egypt-style Facebook revolution.

Corporate propagandist John Leyne of the globalist Chatham House’s BBC

While BBC concedes that “verifying information from Libya has been difficult,” within the text of the article they refer to the speech as a “rambling TV address.” In the side bar, we hear from BBC propagandist Jon Leyne, who covered the “bazillion-gagillion man march” in Egypt and told viewers it seemed as if “all of Egypt” had turned out in Tahrir Square. Best estimates of the crowd range from 50,000 to no more than 100,000 (0.1% of Egypt’s population.) Leyne says the following regarding Sayf al-Islam’s address, in an unprofessional bravado we should only have come to expect from the BBC:

“That was one of the strangest political speeches I think I’ve ever sat through. He was completely and utterly detached from the reality of what is going on in his country. To put it bluntly, most Libyans will just treat it as gibberish – it was completely meaningless to them. The idea that they’re somehow going to sit down and have a national dialogue with a government that’s brought in foreign mercenaries to shoot at them is laughable.”

What qualifies Leyne to speak on behalf of the Libyan people on a crisis his own network concedes is difficult to report on, thus “utterly detached” themselves, is beyond understanding, unless of course it is pure propaganda aimed at discrediting the address.

What the mainstream media and Sayf al-Islam seem to agree on is that Libya’s eastern city of Benghazi has been overrun by mobs who have seized military tanks and weapons. For BBC and AlJazeera to call the government’s response to arsonists, looters, vandals, and now dangerously and overtly armed mobs, a “massacre,” seems somewhat disingenuous and very similar to their coverage of the US-backed mobs that took to the streets in Bangkok in May, 2010.

While BBC’s recent outing as a corporate-paid propaganda operation may seem to many as a simple statement of the obvious, it will hopefully begin to undermine the unquestioned credibility many still seem to believe these large corporate-media outfits possess. It will also hopefully spur many to begin researching, discovering, and attempting to understand the world around them, themselves, without the corporate-paid propagandists guiding them along.

If Thomas Jefferson was correct when he stated, “an informed citizenry is the only true repository of the public will,” one must wonder where the public will is currently reposited so long as the citizenry is “informed” by corporate-paid propagandists like the BBC.

The Halfway Point

Roman celebrations of Lupercalia involved whipping women in the streets to encourage fertility. Image Source: Res Obscura.

It's Candlemas - no, not the Swedish Doom Metal band - and Groundhog Day. Both celebrations refer to the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox; this date has been celebrated under different guises since ancient times:
Candlemas primarily focuses on Jesus’ early life. Many Christians believe that Jesus’ mother Mary presented him to God at the Temple in Jerusalem after observing the traditional 40-day period of purification (of mothers) following his birth. According to a New Testament gospel, a Jewish man named Simeon held the baby in his arms and said that he would be a light for the Gentiles (Luke 2:32). It is for this reason that this event is called Candlemas.

Many people believe that some of Candlemas’ activities stem from pagan observances such as Imbolc [also known as St. Brigid's Day], a Gaelic festival, or the Roman feast of Lupercalia. However, others have argued that there is too little evidence to shed light on Candlemas’ substitution for these festivals. Either way, Candlemas occurs at a period between the December solstice and the March equinox, so many people traditionally marked that time of the year as winter’s “halfway point” while waiting for the spring.
Lupercalia was an ancient festival; its celebration continued after the founding of Rome in 753 BCE. It was: "one of the most ancient of the Roman holidays (one of the feriae listed on ancient calendars from even before the time Julius Caesar reformed the calendar)." Lupercalia is also now associated with Valentine's Day; it referred to February as a period of spiritual cleansing. It was a sort of early spring cleaning of the soul. It demanded reexamination of one's actions and an expulsion of evil spirits. The Romans fashioned the date as a wolf festival: Lupa was the wolf that suckled the infant twins Romulus and Remus, founders of Rome. The details of the Lupercalia celebration - which you can read about here - were pretty weird. They make our modern Candlemas rituals and Groundhog Day festivities look nice and tame. Even so, the underlying message of all these holidays is identical.

The American movie Groundhog Day (1993), while ostensibly about the modern North American convention of watching a groundhog come out of hibernation, plainly depicted the ancient themes around this day. In the film, a weatherman covering the Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania Groundhog Day celebration becomes trapped in a time loop and is unable to move forward until he changes his priorities and values for the better. In 2006, the film was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the United States National Film Registry.

Incidentally, according to StormFax Weather Almanac, the famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, only predicts the early arrival of an early spring correctly 39% of the time. His success rate is pretty much in line with the success rates of other groundhogs employed for these purposes in the USA and Canada. Punxsutawney Phil's official Website is here.

Happy Chinese New Year

Today is the Chinese New Year, calculated through the lunisolar calendar. Hence it is also known technically as the Lunar New Year, celebrated as well in other cultures. In the Chinese astrological tradition, this is the year of the Water Dragon, and the beginning of the Chinese Spring Festival. According to this site, a Water Dragon year, last experienced in 1952, is one where conformity and authority can be challenged and innovation encouraged. The watery aspect is a positive one, and calms the dragon's showy enthusiasm and gives the expansive fire a measure of introspection and contemplation.

As for Chinese astrological parallels with the past - what happened in 1952?

In January of that year, there were riots in Cairo and many downtown landmarks were burned in anti-British protests. The 750 buildings that were destroyed or damaged included the Opera House. These buildings were associated with Europeans. The country exploded in a nationalist, anti-imperialist revolution on July 23, overthrew King Farouk, and kicked out the British occupation, which had been there since 1882. Within a year, Egypt became a republic and Sudan became independent. The major strategic concern was the Suez Canal, which fell under Egyptian control.

The French were at war in Vietnam in the First Indochina War, which culminated in the Battle of Nà Sản.

There was a communist campaign to suppress nationalist guerrillas and bandits in southern China. There was also an Islamic insurgency in China. Supported by the nationalist Kuomintang and the CIA, Chinese Muslim insurgents operated out of Tibet to counter the spread of communism in China.

The University of Tennessee admitted its first African-American student.

Ernest Hemingway published The Old Man in the Sea. This seems a pretty fitting work of literature for a Water Dragon year! You can read the full text of the story for free, here. For rare pictures of Hemingway in Cuba go here. The fisherman who inspired him died in 2002.

Sony, a new Japanese company, introduced the first pocket-sized transistor radio.

Elizabeth became Queen of the UK and Commonwealth through a trick of fate. Her accession made the Brits hope that things would get, um, better. Time voted the young queen Person of the Year,
"finding that her significance was that 'of a fresh young blossom on roots that had weathered many a season of wintry doubt. The British, as weary and discouraged as the rest of the world in 1952, saw in their new young Queen a reminder of a great past... and dared to hope that she might be an omen of a great future.'"
A list of 1952 events is here. Perhaps the wheel will turn full circle and that omen for a great future will be fulfilled in 2012. There is also a New Moon in the sign of Aquarius today, which stresses new beginnings, while wrapping up older concerns.
