Well, here's a movie we sort of forgot about entirely. First announced last summer, Simon Pegg signed on to star in "A Fantastic Fear of Everything," an ambitious, oddball tale being co-directed by an interesting pair: Chris Hopewell (who has helmed music videos for people like Radiohead, The Knife and The Killers) and by Crispian Mills (the front-man of Britpop also-rans Kula Shaker). Well, their result of the collaboration is now available for all to see, and certainly, it delivers in the visual department.
Penned by Mills, the film follows Jack, a children's author-turned-crime-novelist whose deep research into gruesome Victorian era murders has made him an insomniac, fearful mess who can barely leave his house or go to the store. Pushed by the ghost of his ex-wife and his psychotherapist, Jack eventually makes the journey to the laundromat and through a series of events he meets a girl and finds himself on the run from an actual serial killer. And that's just the tip of the iceberg of what happens to Pegg's character in a film that is certainly going full tilt in the trailer revealed by the actor today on Twitter.
Highly stylized and both absurd and affectionate, the balancing act of the tone will be the key to its success here, and we imagine it's one that's hard to encapsulate in a trailer. We'll find out soon enough as "A Fantatsic Fear of Everything" opens June 8th in the U.K. No U.S. date has been set yet, but Indomina Releasing has the rights to the picture.

Almost single-handedly, against overwhelming odds and with little regard for her own well-being, Margaret reunited thousands of families, brought authorities to account and drew worldwide attention to an extraordinary miscarriage of justice. Children as young as four had been told that their parents were dead, and been sent to children's homes on the other side of the world. Many were subjected to appalling abuse. They were promised oranges and sunshine: they got hard labour and life in institutions.

Twenty years ago David Icke was told that he would go on a world stage to reveal hidden truths to humanity. At the time it seemed ludicrous to Icke that people would turn out to hear him speak about alternative history and the true nature of reality. At the end of his presentations, few will question Icke's sanity or how he came to these seemingly outrageous conclusions. But each and every year David Icke adds a deeper and more interesting layer to this unseen reality which, again, if taken as single sound bites, seem thoroughly ridiculous.
For instance, his latest book The Lion Sleeps No More alleges that the Moon is artificial and purposely affects the vibrational (informational) field that we decode as reality. Given what we all learned in school about the Moon, this is crazy talk. However, upon examining the volumes of information referenced by Icke outlining the indisputable anomalies with the Moon, one would find much more logic in Icke's interpretation than any mainstream science theory. As with many of his other revelations, in time this will become just another mainstream lie that Icke gets credit for exposing.
Besides the knowledge gained from his all-day presentations where he connects all of these seemingly random dots into a compelling story, audiences are utterly fascinated and entertained for twelve full hours. Scarcely any other performer on earth, of any persuasion, can claim this same ability. And everyone who attends his shows will not soon forget the profound experience of the event. Even those who enter with closed minds walk away with an expanded awareness -- as David Icke is found of saying "You cannot unhear something" whether you want to believe it or not.

"Most of our patients and our staff were really skeptical about doing a reality TV show because they were watching Jersey Shore and The Kardashians," says Andrew DeAngelo, general manager of Oakland, California's Harborside Health Center, the largest medical marijuana dispensary in the world. Andrew and his brother, Harborside's Executive Director Steve DeAngleo, are co-stars of Weed Wars, a new show by the Discovery Channel that looks into lives of those who run Harborside, the patients that seek out their services, and the politicians looking to shut them down.
"There are a lot of stigmas about medical cannabis patients, that we don't work hard, that we're a bunch of stoners, that we are lazy, that we are really criminals or drug traffickers," explains Andrew DeAngleo. "All that is a lie that has been perpetrated by the feds and the media." By opening up their work and lives to cameras, the DeAngelo brothers hope to present a side of the medical marijuana debate that is rarely seen on American television. "This is our chance - and our patients and our staff's chance - to shine."
Reason.tv sat down with the DeAngleo brothers to discuss the show, the multi-agency crackdown on medical marijuana dispensaries and how the Obama Administration's recent reversal of policy is creating an opening for Republicans this election cycle.

The film sets out to prove a cover-up by the “establishment” over the death of Princess Diana. It has caused outrage in sections of the British press and is not scheduled for a UK release.
Directed by actor Keith Allen and backed by Mohamed al-Fayed, father of Dodi, the film is being screened at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival on Friday.
Mr Allen describes his film as an “inquest into the inquest” of Princess Diana’s death. Of the controversial photo, Mr Allen wrote in the Daily Mail: “The photo is not used in the film for the purpose of shock.
“It is included as evidence, because it shows clearly that, although Diana had been injured in the crash, she was alert and very much alive. I repeat: it is not a picture of a dying woman.” Read more…
Unlawful Killing – the film the British won’t get to see
My documentary about the Diana inquest will be shown everywhere but the UK. Here’s why.
Deriding its critics as mad is an age-old British establishment trick. My “inquest of the inquest” film contains footage of Diana recalling how the royals wanted her consigned to a mental institution, and the inquest coroner repeatedly questioning the sanity of anyone who wondered if the crash was more than an accident. His chief target was Mohamed Al Fayed, a man I once profiled for a Channel 4 documentary. Before I met him, I’d half-believed the media caricature of him as a madman, driven nuts by the death of his son, and wildly accusing the Windsors of having planned the 1997 crash. However, I found a man who was sane and funny but frustrated that Britain wouldn’t hold an inquest into his son’s death. Michael Mansfield QC thought it unfair too, and fought for one to be held; which was why the longest inquest in British legal history eventually began in 2007.
Unlawful Killing is not about a conspiracy before the crash, but a provable conspiracy after the crash. A conspiracy organised not by a single scheming arch-fiend, but collectively by the British establishment – judges, lawyers, politicians, police chiefs, secret services, even newspaper editors – all of whom have been appointed to their positions because they are “a safe pair of hands”. Just as compass needles all point north without being told to, so these people instinctively know what is expected of them when the state’s interests are under threat and they act accordingly, quietly suppressing uncomfortable evidence or undermining the credibility of witnesses whose evidence contradicts the official narrative.
Consider just a fraction of what transpired. Over 100 significant witnesses were not called to the inquest, or refused to appear. Blood tests allegedly proving the drunkenness of the driver Henri Paul were deemed “biologically inexplicable” by a toxicologist. A British crash expert found that Diana’s seat belt had not been working. And so on.
Strangest of all was the media coverage of the verdict. Inquest evidence showed conclusively that the crash was caused by an unidentified white Fiat Uno and several unidentified motorcycles, vehicles that were certainly not paparazzi, because uncontested police evidence confirmed that the paparazzi were nowhere near the tunnel at the time of the crash. The jury understood this, bringing in a verdict of “unlawful killing” by unidentified “following vehicles”; yet within seconds, the BBC was misreporting that the jury had blamed the paparazzi, and the rest of the media meekly followed suit. Which is why – three years on – barely anyone realises what the jury’s troubling verdict really was.
Why is the film being premiered next week at Cannes, three years after the inquest ended? Because British lawyers insisted on 87 cuts before any UK release could be contemplated. So rather than butcher the film, or risk legal action, we’re showing it in France, then the US, and everywhere except the UK. Pity, because at a time when the mindless sugar rush of the royal wedding has been sending British Rrepublicans into a diabetic coma, it could act as a welcome antidote.
