Launch of the Psychedelic Society in London

Courtesy of the Psychedelic Society
Courtesy of the Psychedelic Society
The inaugural meeting of the Psychedelic Society (PS) – Mainstreaming Psychedelics – took place in Conway Hall, London on November 3. Nearly 400 people, representing different age groups and backgrounds, gathered together to watch four short talks. The speakers, and perhaps more importantly their fields, clearly indicated the ground on which the PS plan to operate.
Prof. David Nutt, psychopharmacologist and former chairman of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, discussed some of the latest research on psychedelics, and it was a mark of how well attended the event was that a number of the scientists Prof. Nutt cited in his talk were sat in the audience. The scientific community has made great headway with psychedelics over the last few years, and PS is clearly keen to aid this effort.
Evidence-based approaches in the sciences were also coupled with those of activism, policy, and harm reduction. There were talks from Steve Rolles, senior policy analyst at Transform Drug Policy Foundation; David Babbs from 38 Degrees, the activism and petition website; and Arielle Nylander, a harm reductionist who conducted research in the festival scene.
There was a real sense of not only bringing about a change in law and science, but providing for the existing psychedelic community as well – even if a number of the more experienced trippers and harm reductionists watching winced at some of the clinical terminology. I might add that rummaging through my tent at three in the morning – i.e. not preparing a ‘trip bag’ – has led to some very enjoyable adventures trying to find my way out.
And while this was certainly no 1965 Poetry Incarnation, where the scattered tribes of the British Underground came together in mutual recognition of the others, there was a seed of this energy at Conway Hall and definitely a collective sense of purpose.
Grassroots activism in the psychedelic arena takes two forms by and large, chemistry and politics, and I’ve been led to believe we’ve been short of both for some time. The timing is right for an organisation to rally political causes, just as the scientific community has been doing for a number of years, and while it remains to be seen how this will manifest in the Psychedelic Society, they’ve certainly kicked off on the right foot.

Sam Exposes The Legal Name Fraud In Court

Outside The Box With Kate Of Gaia on Critical Mass Radio recorded on November 12, 2014
Guests: Sam, Strawberry
Sam Exposes The Legal Name Fraud In Court

"NAME: The master key to the entire system’s/CROWN CORPORATION’S game. The NAME is the lynch pin to the entire legal/control construct. Without a LEGAL NAME, which is your consent by agreeing to be said NAME, the system vampires cannot literally feed on your life blood/creation source energy that is typically shown in the physical materials we collect. It is only the CONSENT to be/use/have a LEGAL NAME/Mark of the Beast that is required for your absolute spiritual contract/deal with the devil motif to be in FULL FORCE AND EFFECT with you as a SLAVE and them as MASTER. For PROOF of this, look and see how much of your life/existence involves a LEGAL NAME and you will see the measure of control the system has over you."

"We are clearing this reality of these parasites exponentially now where universal law reigns supreme where none shall or can trespass. They are masters of deception so do not let your loving compassion be used against you, something that has been their most powerful tools. The bio-borg entities are already lifeless and are dependent only on being able to suck the life out of you but, like every vampire, they cannot enter your reality without an invitation. Every use of the legal NAME is the only invitation they need so best cut your ties and consent with that. Just get this concept and you have already cut the puppet strings and your causal ability returns instantly in relation to your ability to be responsible with that ultimate of powers.
To the “walking dead” (and you know what you are) , your time is over, your deceptions are powerless and now moment by now moment, you are being erased from consciousness for the invading parasites you are. We, of the living soul, are awake, aware and reclaiming our reality where yours never existed. In short, yes, you are doomed. Have a nice day!"

A Cornish Experiment in Sustainable Power - PLEASE DONATE

A Cornish Experiment in Sustainable Power

With your help, we aim to build and test an experimental engine fuelled by wood chips to power a lightweight vehicle. We've been developing this new concept of biomass-fuelled engine, based on a combination of old and new ideas, and are now at the point where we can integrate our designs into a first complete engine. This will be an exciting next step after many years of research and practical experimentation.
We are a small team based in West Cornwall and like many forward-thinking people we are interested in renewable energy. With particular regard to engine fuels, the current mainstream approach is to grow monoculture crops that are then extensively processed into a format suitable for existing engines. For example, sugarcane is grown and then fermented to produce bio-ethanol as a petrol replacement fuel. We think that a far better approach would be to develop new engines designed specifically to run on a broad range of minimally processed plant matter, typically woodchips.

“I can’t resist getting behind these guys, if only so I can get a step closer to my dream of a carbon neutral wood-chip powered flail mower for River Cottage. And maybe an eco-jet ski to get me a bit quicker to my favourite inshore fishing marks…"
Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall - River Cottage

Historically, Cornwall is the birthplace of high pressure steam power, and a very appropriate place to develop a new form of wood-gas fuelled steam engine. Our engine will be compatible with forestry brash, scrap wood, hedge trimmings, crop residues, and so on, which need only be dried and chipped. This engine could be used in all sorts of ways, but our first one will be used to power a modified recumbent trike.
Trees, woodchips, an engine and a new vehicle.
We will use our powered trike prototype for practical trials and for demonstrations. It will be a form of power-assist vehicle but with an important difference. Instead of having pedals, the rider will use leg power to pump air into the engine's combustion chamber to generate the heat needed to raise steam. The harder the rider pumps, the more steam pressure will be created and the faster the trike will go.

As far as we know, this concept has never been explored, and is actually more like a form of 'muscle-power amplification' (rather than power-assist). The engine and rider will have to work together to power the trike, and this makes for an unusually simple mechanical system.

Our engine will basically consist of:
1. A high efficiency gravity-fed wood chip gasification/combustion system of our own design.
2. A monotube boiler
3. Our unique rotary expansion motor that uses flexible tube 'muscles' instead of pistons and cylinders.
4. A steam condenser
5. A circulation pump
6. Foot-operated high-flow air pumps.

The technical spec for our engine will be:
Top operating pressure - 110psi
Combustion chamber exit temp - about 1000 degrees C (raising superheated steam to approx 250 degrees C)
Maximum power output - 1 horsepower (roughly three times more powerful than an average cyclist)
Warm up time from cold - around 5 minutes
Thermal efficiency - estimated between 15% - 20%
Fuel efficiency - we hope for about 25 miles per kg of wood chips
Given that we will be running on locally grown fuel, we expect the 'twig to wheel' efficiency to be unbeatably high!

We hope to validate this new concept as possibly the simplest engine yet devised capable of powering a vehicle using biomass. Variations of our engine may prove to be useful in many other ways (such as to power small boats, or generate electricity, etc.). Wood is an important renewable energy source - when grown and managed sensibly - and we aim to demonstrate that when it is burned correctly and in optimal conditions, it can also be a very clean and powerful fuel.

Your Help

Please explore the rewards offered for pledges to this project and help us if you can. See the budget section of our project website for a full breakdown of how we will use your money.
Our particular expertise is in the adaptation of existing and recycled parts and materials for the building of components; a methodology we refer to as shoestring durch technik. We expect the building and preliminary testing of the trike-with-engine to take 4 months.
If the project is successful we hope to build bespoke engines for anyone who wants to commission one. We may develop kits and plans to enable others to build them too, and it may help us to find government and/or private backing to develop our engine concept more seriously. We also hope to encourage the involvement of universities with our ideas.

Please enjoy our film and support our project!

Thank you.

How crowdfunding works

You pledge using the options on the right of the screen. Only if enough people pledge and we reach our target of £7,000 by our deadline will our campaign be deemed 'successful'. Then pledges will be collected and rewards distributed. We will thank and post the names of all our funders on our website. Those of you receiving willow cuttings will be contacted to find out when you'd like them, or if you'd like us to plant a tree for you. We will then enjoy the midwinter festivities before beginning our 4-month project on Monday 5th January.
January and February will be spent building the engine and adapting the trike. Those of you taking a tour of the woodland workshops and seeing developments will be invited towards the end of this period. In March we aim to be testing and refining the trike and by April finish the short film 'The Making of the Zennor Phoenix'. At this point we will honour all outstanding rewards.
There are two ways to pledge to make this project happen, via Paypal or Go Cardless. If you use PayPal, your donated amount will be debited from your account immediately and held by Crowdfunder until we reach our target, at which point it'll be given to us to start our project. If we fail to meet our target, the money will immediately be returned to your account. If you pay using Go Cardless, the amount you pledge is not debited from you account until such time as we reach our target. If we don't, the money is never debited. We hope that makes sense! Please contact us if you need any further clarification. Both payment options are safe and simple to use, and we thank you in advance for your generosity.
We will keep you all updated with our progress at key stages and send you all a report on the project at the end.
You can also pledge money to help support us and opt out of the offered rewards!
International pledges are accepted but additional postage will be added.
If you would like to know more about the rewards, or want to ask for something else, please use the 'send message' button. Let us know what you might like and how much you can pledge, and we will do our best to accommodate your ideas. We think that this is a really worthwhile ecological project and aim to make it interesting and entertaining too.

Glastonbury Town Hall seized under article 61 Magna Carter invoked in 2001by 25 Barons

14th October 2014
We successfully siezed the town hall in Glastonbury this evening after a heated council meeting. Police later arrived and then left agreeing that we were doing nothing unlawful, six of them attended the scene.

We could have remained there without a problem but we would have inconvenienced the kindly caretaker, so we decided to leave of our own volition. It was all video's so it will be uploaded later.

Article 61 works and all we need to do is use it peacefully. I have demanded an interview with the local police inspector which has been logged by our cameras and by the police. He has been ignoring my emails and failed to pass out the information to his constables that I sent him about Article 61 and the nice treaty, when he faithfully promised to do so.

Thanks to the half dozen or so people who bothered to turn up and assist in the seizure you are truly my brothers and sisters, namaste

When the Government Comes Knocking, Who Has Your Back?

EFF Charts the Privacy and Transparency Practices of the Internet's Biggest Companies

EFF

When you use the Internet, you entrust your thoughts, experiences, locations, and more to companies like Google, Twitter, and Facebook. But what happens when the government asks these companies to hand over your private information? Will the company stand with you? Today, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) releases its second annual "When the Government Comes Knocking, Who Has Your Back?" report – this time as a white paper and chart tracking some of the Internet's biggest service providers on their public commitments to their users' privacy and security.

Increasingly, federal law enforcement agents are demanding that Internet companies provide their users' data as part of government investigations – sometimes fairly, sometimes unfairly. EFF's report examines 18 companies' terms of service, privacy policies, public representations, advocacy, and courtroom track records, awarding them gold stars for best practices in categories like "tell users about government data demands" and "fight for user privacy in courts."

"This year, we saw a big increase in the number of companies making a public promise to their users to inform them whenever possible when the government comes knocking," said EFF Legal Director Cindy Cohn. "This notice gives users the chance to fight back against government overreaches and to defend themselves if investigators want to unfairly fish around in their personal information. It appears that promising to notify your customers of government data demands is on the way to becoming an industry standard for responsible companies."

EFF first published its chart last year to recognize exemplary practices by some companies. We were pleased to see that Facebook, Dropbox, and Twitter have each upgraded their practices in the past year. Sonic.net, an ISP based in Santa Rosa, California, earned a gold star in every category. Cloud storage sites Dropbox and SpiderOak and business networking site LinkedIn also fared well, earning recognition in three categories each.

"Online service providers are the guardians of some of your most intimate data – everything from your messages, to location information, to the identities of your family and friends," said EFF Senior Staff Attorney Marcia Hofmann. "We wanted to acknowledge companies that are adopting best practices and taking exceptional steps to defend their users against government overreaches in the courts and in Congress."

In addition to upgrading their own practices, many Internet companies have joined with civil liberties groups into a powerful coalition working to clarify outdated privacy laws so that there is no question about when the government needs a warrant to access sensitive users data.

"This year, we saw a number of major Internet companies join the Digital Due Process coalition, which is aimed at getting Congress to make lasting improvements in the laws that protect our electronic privacy," said EFF Activism Director Rainey Reitman. "This should be a wakeup call to Congress to clarify outdated laws so there is no question that government agents need a court-ordered warrant before accessing sensitive location data, email content, and documents stored in the cloud."

NASTY NESTLE.

An appeal from IUF, a reminder that in some countries to be in a union can be a very dangerous situation. Yes, this is the 21st century.

As Nestlé shareholders prepare for the annual shareholder meeting on April 19 Nestlé watchers should note that on April 6 a court in Kabirwala, Pakistan issued an arrest warrant for a manager named Jahangir at the labour contractor which has been supplying hundreds of contract workers under abusive conditions to Nestlé's milk factory in the town.
Abuses by the labour contractor - a crucial component of the Nestlé 'supply chain' - are part of a pattern of lawlessness and lies which have also seen the human resources manager at the plant cited for contempt by the Punjab High Court for repeatedly failing to comply with court orders to reinstate the unfairly terminated President of the Nestlé Kabirwala Workers Action Committee, Ashfaq Butt.
Throughout the ongoing struggle for employment rights at Nestlé Kabirwala, Nestlé has shown contempt for the courts and for the truth. Nestlé management in Vevey has gone through similar contortions in attempting to explain the arbitrary firing of 53 union members at the Nescafé factory in Panjang, Indonesia, including alleging that the strike by the union was "illegal" (it was not). The handful of union members who survived the wave of arbitrary firings have come under enormous pressure to surrender their rights.
While the shareholders prepare for their celebration, click here to send a message to Nestlé calling on the company to reinstate unfairly dismissed union members in Indonesia and provide permanent employment to contract workers in Pakistan who have claimed their legal rights.

Economic Warfare 101 for the Masses

An updated primer on Economic Warfare for ordinary people to use against The Powers that Be.

Philip Brennan | PhilipBrennan.net | 6 October 2011:

I am writing this post as a simple guide for the ordinary man and woman on the street – this is not going to be an in-depth discussion or paper on Economic Warfare that you might find in a dusty University library somewhere, but a practical guide giving practical steps that anyone can use to hit back at our Criminal Governments and the Banking Mafia where it hurts – in their pockets.

The first step in Economic Warfare for the Masses is possibly the hardest, and is something to be worked towards slowly as you do all the other things – pay off or repudiate all your debts. The biggest power that both governments and corporations weld over us is debt. Debt is the great controller of the masses, as it is because of debt that people find themselves trapped in jobs which make other people rich instead of going off to do their own thing to make themselves comfortable and well off in life.

If you believe that your debts were fraudulently put upon you, which with fractional reserve banking is a very strong legal possibility, repudiate them. In mortgages collateral is secured against the principle in order for it to be lawful. The collateral you put up for that mortgage, the house you were buying, exists and can be drawn upon to pay off the debt. The Principle, however, has no collateral with which the bank can draw upon because it was invented out of thin air as you signed the dotted line on the mortgage papers, so cannot be considered as lawful collateral with regards to the creation of the Principle. The money that they have loaned you is fraudulent. Ergo, the debt (mortgage) is also fraudulent. You have put up Lawful collateral on the Principle but they have not.

Credit card debt is also fraudulent upon the card issuers part, as the money only comes into existence the moment you draw upon it – there is no gold or silver backing up that loan, no collateral, ergo, the loan is fraudulent upon the Credit card issuers part. Ergo, you have no lawful requirement to pay that fraudulent loan back. It can be lawfully repudiated.

Having no overdrafts is also a good idea, so paying them off as soon as is humanly possible is a priority.

Now for the easier stuff. While you are getting yourself out of debt there are several other lawful things you can do to make life unpleasant for the Banking Mafia. The first thing is to invest in a home safe / deposit box – you should have one already for your birth certificates and other legal documents – one that is fire proof for up to an hour. You have not got one? Well, you had better get one.

As you get paid each month take out almost all your money apart from that which you need to pay direct debits with and put it in that safe. While your money is in the bank the Banking Mafia are making money loaning that money out whether or not they decide to pay you any interest upon your account. Also, that money is loaned out in such a way as to again be fraudulent through Fractional Reserve Banking. While that money is in hard cash, either in your wallet or in your home safe / deposit box, the Banking Mafia cannot use it. Money in your hand is worth NOTHING to them.

If you do not like having lots of cash in the house there is no reason why you cannot take what you don’t use at the end of each month and putting it into silver coins. They also take up less room in your home safe and hold their value much better than cash does. Or join a local Credit Union if you have one.

Mass boycotts also work if you can sell the idea to enough people. Coca-Cola is a good one to boycott for two reasons: 1. Ben Bernanke of the Federal Reserve Bank has a major stake in it and 2. it is the weakest company in the NYSE top 100. If enough of you boycott Coca-Cola for long enough there is a fair chance that its share price will drop 10% or more – once this happens the short sellers will then be short-selling the hell out of it, and then its value will drop even further. This will hurt the likes of Ben Bernanke in their own pockets. Get the bastards where it really hurts.

Join in with like minded individuals and rent out land to grow your own vegetables on. In the UK we still have some allotments. Or if you have a large back yard turn half of it over to food production. While times are good you can save yourself some money with nice fresh home-grown vegetables, and in the hard times at least you won’t starve. Also, start supporting the little guys and move as much money away from the supermarket giants as you can – corner stores, farmers markets, co-operatives are all good sources of food and the money stays within the local community and not in the pockets of major share holders. Finally, only buy what you need on a weekly or daily basis. People waste so much food because they buy far too much during their monthly shops and it goes off before they get to use it. Also, some of the best fresh meat I have seen locally comes from my local Halal store, and not from Tescos or ASDA-Walmart. You can get just the right amount for your needs from them, and their beef and lamb is usually very lean – more so than I have seen in a lot of supermarkets. So they don’t sell bacon? That’s what your local corner shop is for.

Start buying local again wherever you can. This might mean eating food in season rather than relying upon exported foods. Here in the UK we still produce 60% of our own food, but that is still not enough for real food security. We need to be producing at least 80% of our own food before we can say that our food supply is secure should something really bad happens – like a war or drought that prevents us importing food from abroad.

The basic idea is to starve the mega-corporations from as much money as you possibly can, and to keep that money circulating within your local community. This will eventually create more jobs in your local communities as well, as if there is suddenly a demand for a local green-grocers selling fresh local produce in your area, some bright spark will do it. That bright spark could be you.

The final part of our Economic Warfare against the governments, mega-corporations and the Banking Mafia is to break consumerist habits. Do you really need the latest iPhone or Android device? Do you really need that foreign holiday? Do you really need such an extensive wardrobe? Do you have to buy loads of cheap tacky shit from China and the Far East?

Meanwhile it is time to go up against the Banking Mafia and our Criminal Governments up close and personal – the time for sitting down and bitching about how badly we’re being screwed over is done. Those of you in America reading this already know about the “Occupy” protests in the US. Here in the UK we’re starting them too. Occupy Manchester is already live. Occupy the London Stock Exchange starts on the 15 of October. There are already many “Occupy” protests all over the European Union and United States to join in with or support – Madrid in Spain, Athens in Greece, Paris in France, Boston, Phoenix, New York, Seattle, San Francisco and others in the United States.

It is time we started fighting back against our Criminal Governments and the Banking Mafia.

The New Economy – Local Food And Energy Will Fix The Economy In 1 Year Or Less

It doesn’t take a genius to see what’s wrong with this economy and some clear and concise steps we can all take to improve the economy immediately.

While reading Slow Money, (If you don't know about Slow Money, it means we all start spending money locally deliberately. It doesn't matter how much, 1% will help ensure that local food producers are able to make a living at producing food, which secures food production) - the realization hit me – we are hemorrhaging money from this country with every drop of gas and oil we buy and burn. Some estimates are in the Billion$ a day! This money could be going to seeing to it your neighbor has a job, doesn’t loose their house at a devalued market and therefore devalue yours. And you get good health and make new friends in the process.

How to start? It’s easy! The money you usually spend on gas every week can go for buying a bike, among other things. Maybe its only $10 a week that you can cut back on gas, maybe its $129 a week, but the important thing is- only you can stop the hemorrhaging of money out of this country. If we all start making the effort to stop this blood bath – the lives we save may be our own. It might sound idealist, but every president in office in the last 30 years has told us we must stop our addiction to gas. . .and we didn’t listen and not all of us are listening now.

We’re not listening to the sound of jobs leaving the country. We’re not listening to the tent cities popping up around the country and the homeless people living out of their cars or standing roadside begging. We’re not listening to the unemployed or under-employed. What we are listening to is the voice over the tubes telling us we deserve our freedom, we “deserve” our ability of each be independently mobile. This message is a strangle hold on our ideals when it conflicts with our common goals and ideals of real freedom – the ability to not work, not have affordable healthy food and reasonable priced energy.

But its not all bad- we get some nice benefits! Here’s a few ways we can rebuild our country that are easy –

  • Ø Ride share to work with a neighbor;
  • Ø Clean out the bike out of the garage and ride it once or twice a week;
  • Ø Walk to shops, work and entertainment;
  • Ø Work a day or two from home; or
  • Ø Take low cost public transportation.
  • Ø Some people are using “neighborhood vehicles” so they divide the cost of insurances, maintenance as well as gas.

Don’t know how to organize any of these? Print this out and share with someone who is complaining about the economy. Send them to this website - ChrisMartenson.com. Here we are all working on the solutions and many of us find solutions and share them. Share the Slow Money concept with them - We can use the Slow Money concept to rebuild our cities and communities with the money we save.

How best to spent this money? Start buying local food and invest in local energy. These are the 2 resources you will not want to be without. Doing this will build community and strengthen your ties to it. You will find resources you never knew you had and gain knowledge shared by others. Others will quickly join because frankly, no man is an island.

  1. Find your local farmers markets and local growers.
    1. Learn to grow some of your own food. And learn to put away some for rainy days. You can start by watching DIRT-the Movie. (also available on NetFlix.) Or if you are limited by space, check out "If you can feed Your Family with Aqua-ponics" here.
  2. Use your newly found money to build your own solar, wind or hydropower. Install back up wood heat and meet your local wood suppliers.
    1. Solar may still be high priced, but it comes in handy when other sources of power are not available. Check out more on solar here.
    2. Wind is also high priced, but again, any power is useful when no other power is available. However, many units can be home-made so the cost is greatly reduced. Click here for more info on wind options
    3. Hydropower is still one of the best options as energy if you have any flowing water available. It is a fairly constant source of energy and batteries may not be required. Like wind energy, home-made units can be made. Click here for some hydropower options.
    4. Wood heat use is expected to increase in use by 600% over the next few years. Yet, we do not have enough wood to fill the needs of this type of demand. Without better burn technology, we risk de-foresting our lands. One of the ways we can conserve our wood is to burn it more efficiently. The Rocket Mass Heater is one way to get more heat from less wood. Some estimates are 90% more heat (from the same amount of wood). The JetStove is another heavy metal pre-fab unit. Both units create a Taurus burn which burn off smoke and that creates more heat. Both units can convert to heat water, cook, dry foods and more.
  3. Conserve. Conserve. Conserve.
    1. Conserve at Home Click for ideas on easy ways to save time and energy.
    2. Conserve with food At Least think about turning the water guzzling high maintenance lawns into edible landscaping or at least plant a low maintenance, naturally short growing no mow grasses. Planting a landscape of edibles like fruit trees, strawberries or even zucchini can give you a lot of satisfaction and be a source of healthy food.
    3. Conserve in Transportation Energy!

Local Food and Energy – Make it the Cornish Way. And do it soon – we need to make things better fast.

OCCUPY Your City and Make History

by Robert Greenwald

The Occupy Wall Street protest is a full bore indictment against corporate greed and dysfunctional government. It’s a demand for nation building here at home.

People young and old are taking the streets, sleeping in tents, donating pizza, even publishing their own Occupy Wall Street Journal newspaper, to let our government and corporations know that we are a democracy that’s not for sale.

The Brave New Foundation team pulled some of the most powerful images broadcasted from the Occupy movement. We hope our latest video inspires you to make your voice heard and rally with a protest in your city.

The local protests are growing more each day, with some observers estimating the Occupy movement could swell to 250,000 online activists in the coming days.

We’ve set up a user-friendly database for you to find a protest in your city and spread the word. Already, there are thousands of protesters in New York City and hundreds more in Los Angeles, Boston, Washington DC, Seattle, Miami and elsewhere.

What’s happening at symbolic sites in almost all of our cities is earning comparisons to the movement reshaping the Arab world.

May this be the beginning of an American Autumn and renewal.

The Occupy movement is deeply personal, there are so many different people taking to the streets- and for so many different reasons. Some are in high school and are anxious about the job market, others have graduated college and are drowning in student loans. Many are working longer hours for fewer dollars and workplace rights, or are unemployed.

Many more Occupying cities are veterans who’ve served abroad and cannot transition into civilian life without work. The wars abroad have had a corrosive effect on society.

What’s happening is living digitally through social media. People young and old have set up media tents, libraries, cafeterias and medical centers and they’re getting their message to the public.

We need to help them. We need to participate and make our voices heard today.

They’re truly an inspiration. Whether you were marching in the 1960s, the early 2000s or you are in high school and utilizing your First Amendment rights, we can agree a healthy democracy requires the wisdom of crowds.

Find a local protest and help make history.

Protesters plan to occupy London Stock Exchange

In a Facebook group called Occupy the London Stock Exchange organisers call on crowds to march on the exchange's headquarters at Paternoster Square and fortify it with tents and barricades "for a few months".

"Beginning on October 15, we want to see at least over 20,000 people flood in, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy the London Stock Exchange for a few months. Once there, we shall incessantly repeat one simple demand in a plurality of voices," reads the description of the protest on Facebook.

According to the group the protest will begin on Saturday October 15 and run until 11am on December 12.

The event currently has 225 confirmed attendees, with a further 121 tentative yes's, despite the site failing to list any aims or objectives for the event, or exactly what is being protested.

The event takes its cue from a similar protest on Wall Street in New York, first proposed by Adbusters magazine, which began on September 17 with around 1,000 protesters. That protest is still going on, with more than 80 arrests taking place on September 24 alone.

One of the organisers of the protest, James Alexander Fancourt, said the protests were focused against "increasing social and economic injustice in this country".

"Since the financial crisis the Government has made sure to maintain the status quo and let the people who caused this crisis get off scot-free, whilst conversely ensuring that the people of this country pay the price, in particular those most vulnerable," he said.

"What we have in common is that we are the other 99pc, that we want People over Profit, that we are making our voices heard against greed and corruption and for a democratic and just society. And we are doing that in a non-violent and peaceful way."

Because Paternoster Square is private property the group are considering other nearby areas where they can stage a long-term presence, but denied that they were trying to stop the exchange from operating "as this would cause more harm than good".

"Rather than make the situation worse we wish to highlight the injustices and bring important issues to light."

WAR = TERRORISM.

WAGING WAR ABROAD AND WAR ON PUBLIC SERVICES AT HOME.
An appeal from Stop the War Coalition.

The war in Libya will soon have cost the UK two billion pounds. We were told at the start of the NATO intervention that the cost to Britain would be "tens, not hundreds of millions". The war is in its seventh month and British planes have flown around one in five of all the bombing raids on the country, destroying or damaging more than 900 sites. The £2 billion spent on Libya comes on top of £5 billion a year on the war in Afghanistan and the £2 billion a year spent maintaining the Trident nuclear missile system.

Just as we're being told there is no alternative to deep cuts in the NHS, in disability allowances, pensions, and every area of the public services, £9 billion is being spent on two wars opposed by the majority of the British public, and on maintaining the militarily pointless Trident system. Britain is facing its worst economic crisis since the 1930s, but David Cameron in his speech last week to the United Nations, called for yet more war, adopting from Tony Blair the justification of "humanitarian intervention" for western powers to wage war wherever they please. (SEE: http://bit.ly/rk11ZC).

It will be the main purpose of the Antiwar Mass Assembly on 8 October (SEE HERE)
mobilise as big a display of popular opposition as possible to this government's policy of spending billions on wars abroad while waging a war at home to cut billions from our public services.

Faceoff at 55 Wall St.

Uploaded by on 18 Sep 2011

#Occupy Wall St. demo Sept. 17, 2011. Marchers leave Zucotti Park to attempt to enter blocked off Wall St. At 55 Wall St. they find the wealthy at play and a faceoff begins.

Wall Street has shown Americans how they feel about protests. This video shows unidentified occupants watching protests from the balconies of Wall Street in amusement while sipping champagne.

"US Day of Rage"

Demonstrations began on September 17 to show U.S. citizens anger over a financial system that favors the rich over all other American citizens. Chanting, "We are 99 percent," thousands of protesters gathered near Zucotti Park, close to Wall Street and began their march. Around 5 pm, while attempting to enter the financial district at 55 Wall Street, they were met by curious onlookers from the balconies who were leisurely watching the protesters and doing the unthinkable--drinking champagne.

55 Wall Street

Who occupies 55 Wall Street? The sprawling, historic Manhattan building is home to the Ciprion Club Residences, a private club as well as residence to Wall Street's élite.

Gathered on the balconies of this home of the rich, men in suits and tuxedos as well as women in silk dresses and business suits, casually sipped on their glasses while smiling and taking pictures, seemingly oblivious to the fight of the 99 percent.

The club has a total of 106 residences (living quarters) and their website asserts, "The club will provide you with everything essential to live the good life."

For onlookers "the good life" is a far different cry then that of the remaining 99 percent.

Essential to most Americans is food, shelter, and a job, they don't have time to dress up and sip champagne while their friends and neighbors get arrested for speaking their minds on a public street. (© Christine Dantz 2011)
