...A recent chemical spill at a water treatment facility in Rock Island, Ill., required the assistance of an emergency relief crew decked in the very same type of hazmat suits being worn by workers at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant in Japan. Except instead of radiation, the leaked chemical at the water plant was actually hydrofluorosilicic acid, a chemical fluoride component commonly added to drinking supplies for the stated purpose of preventing cavities. This fluoride chemical is so hazardous that it actually began to burn through parking lot cement in Rock Island before emergency crews arrived on the scene.

According to reports from WQAD News 8 in Moline, a tanker truck delivering the fluoride began to overflow, leaking the chemical directly onto the parking lot where it spilled down towards the street. And before emergency crews arrived on the scene in full hazmat suits and gas masks, the fluoride had actually begun to burn a hole right through the concrete.

UK Census 2011 – Options for Civil Disobedience

Sunday 27 March was Census Day. For many people, the census is all over – they returned their forms and that is the end of it. For others, this is the point where civil disobedience begins.

Civil disobedience does not necessarily mean breaking the law. Civil disobedience comes from a respectable tradition of citizens asserting their political rights and making themselves heard by whatever means are available. It covers a wide spectrum of activity, from politely making things difficult to outright defiance of the law. Most government policies can only be enacted by public goodwill and cooperation, rather than the brute force of law. Civil disobedience is a way that the public can remind the government what it means when the public withdraw their support. Ultimately, government legitimacy and authority derive from the support of the people. If a policy is unpopular, citizens do not have to rush forward to do what the government asks – they can be reluctant and drag their heels.

In the case of the census, it seems that increasingly large numbers of people are reluctant to cooperate – something acknowledged by census officials themselves. This year, the census has been the subject of unprecedented controversy, as many citizens have begun to question their relationship with the state, and whether the state needs to collect so much information about them. Rather than try to win the argument, to gain trust and cooperation, government has replied with threats of greater coercion.
Nowhere is this indifference to public opinion more clearly seen than in the choice of contractors to organise the census: – controversial US military-security corporations, with questions about their record on civil rights. In England and Wales, the census is organised by Lockheed Martin, a US contractor previously involved in “Total Information Awareness” and which recruited interrogators for Abu Ghraib. In Scotland, the contractor is CACI, which also supplied “interrogators” who tortured inmates at Abu Ghraib. Government awarded these contracts over extensive protests, yet now they want unqualified public cooperation.

Census forms returned after 15 August will not be included in census statistics, although will be archived for record. For some, the goal is to delay past that date, to disrupt the system, in non-cooperation with the census contractors. For others, the main objective is to prevent the state acquiring their personal data at all.

Is the census inherently dangerous?

Census data was used heavily by the Nazis in the Holocaust – the progress of the Holocaust in different nations depended very largely on the quality of census data, which was why it was most efficient in Germany and the Netherlands. Although Jews were one target of the Nazis, other targets included “useless eaters”, the ill, “anti-socials”, the underclass – all of which were identified by census and statistics. The Nazi regime should be seen as a horrifying experiment in scientific rationalism, attempting to make a “perfect” society, designed by statistics, but without humanity.

Some people argue that this was not merely an aberration – they argue that the process of making a census and statistics is inherently socially divisive, because statistics inherently aim to identify sub-groups and put people under headings. By this argument, the process of making statistics is political rather than objective. Statisticians were central to the Nazi project. In the countries the Nazis invaded, many statisticians rallied to the Nazi cause, eager to help. In the Netherlands, the head of the census, Jacobus Lentz, was an active collaborator, and helped the Nazis refine their methods, to find their victims more quickly, and leave less chance of escape.

This role is summed up in the book The Nazi Census, by Gotz Aly and Karl Heinz Roth (pp6-7)

“…[There] are, in our opinion, two decisive areas: first the methods for the registration of the entire population; and second, a number of special operations that paved the way for stigmatized minorities …

Is not the simple abstraction of humans into mere numbers a fundamental assault on their dignity?

By profiling individuals, does the temptation not arise to regulate and, as statisticians like to put it, clean them up? Even when they are not expressly misused, censuses facilitate the power of the objective, the rationality of arbitrariness. Existing registration techniques were taken up and further perfected by the National Socialists.

Only in rare cases were they “perverted”. It is impossible to eliminate the abuses without giving up the methodological foundation.

Precisely in the light of historical experience, censuses, with their seemingly objective data and usefulness for policymaking, constitute and assault on the social imagination. … A basic need that we have encountered throughout our research is the need for equality among all people. the continuous counting and singling out of the weakest and those who are isolated by sociopolitical constellations only serves to deepen inequality and break up social existence, rendering it into splinters and particles.”

UK law requires all householders to return a census form, and to make complete and truthful replies. This article does not encourage readers to break the law. Early last year, after six hard months soldiering in Afghanistan, a group of American infantrymen reached a momentous decision: It was finally time to kill a haji.

Among the men of Bravo Company, the notion of killing an Afghan civilian had been the subject of countless conversations, during lunchtime chats and late-night bull sessions. For weeks, they had weighed the ethics of bagging "savages" and debated the probability of getting caught. Some of them agonized over the idea; others were gung-ho from the start. But not long after the New Year, as winter descended on the arid plains of Kandahar Province, they agreed to stop talking and actually pull the trigger.

He was a smooth-faced kid, about 15 years old. Not much younger than they were: Morlock was 21, Holmes was 19. His name, they would later learn, was Gul Mudin, a common name in Afghanistan. He was wearing a little cap and a Western-style green jacket. He held nothing in his hand that could be interpreted as a weapon, not even a shovel. The expression on his face was welcoming. "He was not a threat," Morlock later confessed.

The loud report of the guns echoed all around the sleepy farming village. The sound of such unexpected gunfire typically triggers an emergency response in other soldiers, sending them into full battle mode. Yet when the shots rang out, some soldiers didn't seem especially alarmed, even when the radio began to squawk. It was Morlock, agitated, screaming that he had come under attack. On a nearby hill, Spc. Adam Winfield turned to his friend, Pfc. Ashton Moore, and explained that it probably wasn't a real combat situation. It was more likely a staged killing, he said – a plan the guys had hatched to take out an unarmed Afghan without getting caught.

While a parade of politicians and pundits cite the "international community," the UN, and the "Arab street" as giving them the justification to not only wage illegal war on Libya, but to threaten illegal war against Syria as well, it should be remembered that it was neither the UN nor the "international community" that laid the ground work for this campaign.

What started out, supposedly, as spontaneous, simultaneous uprisings across the Middle East, has transformed clearly into an aggressive Western-backed blitzkrieg of destabilization and regime change. This was a plan that was years in the making, talked about in 2007 by then, presidential hopeful, CFR member, and International Crisis Group trustee Wesley Clark.

We now know that the protesters from Tunisia to Egypt had been trained by US created and funded CANVAS of Serbia. We have learned that the US State Department openly admits to providing funding to tech firms to assist protesters across the Middle East and Northern Africa to circumvent cyber-security inside target nations. Perhaps most alarming of all, we now know that the US State Department is also funding corporations like BBC to undermine the governments of China and Iran, revealing the full-scope of their ambitions.

On 27 March 2011 we learn that with the Syria protests: President Bashir Assad blames 'armed gangs'. (Thanks to C. for the link)

The Syrian news agency says unknown gunmen fired from rooftops, broke into homes and destroyed public property in Latakia.

Their identities are a mystery.

The dead included security forces and residents of the city alike as well as two members of the shadowy 'armed elements,' the report said.

About 200 people were wounded, most of them apparently government security personnel, it said.

One witness said groups of people drove around Alawite dominated villages spreading rumours that the Sunnis were about to attack them.

Then they drove around the Sunni villages and told them the opposite.

The government said the unknown gunmen attacked public and private businesses, destroyed shops and broke into people's homes.

They also attacked a hospital and destroyed several ambulances.

President Bashar Assad's government accused a major Sunni cleric in Qatar for inciting the unrest.

Presidential adviser Bouthaina Shaaban said Qatar-based Sheik Youssef al-Qaradawi had incited Sunnis to revolt with his sermon in Doha on Friday.

So, it looks like the CIA-NATO-Mossad are at work trying to wreck Syria.

Prince William (left) travelled in economy class during New Zealand trip ... Prince William flew "cattle class" under the pseudonym Mr Pinkerton-Smith during his recent visit to New Zealand, it has emerged. The Prince and his security team are understood to have taken their seats with other passengers in the economy class cabin of an Air New Zealand Boeing 737 on the flight from Auckland to the earthquake- stricken city of Christchurch. Air New Zealand has refused to confirm the media reports, a spokesman saying only: "We don't release details regarding individual customers." The revelation will only enhance the Prince's soaring reputation in a country that prides itself on a tradition of egalitarianism. The Prince spent five days visiting people in disaster-ravaged regions of New Zealand and Australia last week, in what his aides described as an "emotionally raw" tour. – UK Telegraph

Dominant Social Theme: They're handsome, talented, wealthy and so very kind. True, they represent the Western, monied elites, but one has to forgive them for backing the status quo as they are genuinely "good" people.

Free-Market Analysis: Sometimes when one looks for emergent power elite dominant social themes they are easy to spot. One of the most obvious, though least discussed memes of the elite, is the presentation of powerful and talented people who are backers (or part) of the status quo as exceptionally generous and empathetic. Just yesterday in the mainstream media there were three examples of this sort of gambit featuring Prince William (see article excerpt above) Winston Churchill and Lady Gaga.

Prince William first. The UK Telegraph (known for royalist sentiments) yesterday ran a story about Prince William's travels to flood-and-earthquake-ravaged New Zealand "down under." According to the Telegraph, the Prince's "easy-going charm and empathy with the grieving resonated widely and have clearly boosted the popularity of the monarchy."

The Telegraph recited Prince William's itinerary in some detail. He stopped off in Christchurch to attend a memorial service for 182 people believed to have died in the February 22 earthquake that flattened parts of the city. According to the Telegraph, New Zealand's Prime Minister John Key said the Prince had been "met with much enthusiasm and goodwill from New Zealanders."

The Telegraph then the New Zealand Herald – the country's "biggest selling" newspaper. A headline, "New Zealand finds fresh heir in Prince William," was attached to a complimentary editorial on the visit. "... In him we have met a future king who knows when he should be here and, even more important, seems comfortable when he is here." The paper's editorial concluded: "The man New Zealand has seen over the past few days may be the saving of the British monarchy in distant English-speaking realms. He is at home here."

Prince William's trip provides us with a good example of thematic mechanism we referred to at the beginning of this article. In fact, Western elites are as almost never before under sustained attack for the failure of the larger economic environment that they have created and promoted. Thus media coverage of its most prominent representatives busying themselves with good works and doing so in a self-effacing manner (Prince Williams took a one-hour trip in "coach") can be seen as valuable promotional aids in fighting back against the perception that the elites are manipulative, exploitative and uncaring.

The Feds Finally Recognize The Anti-Cancer Potential Of Cannabis — 36 Years Too Late!

Scientific trials have for decades documented the anti-cancer properties of cannabis and its constituents. Yet it took until this week for the website of the National Institute of Cancer, a component of the U.S. government’s National Institutes of Health, to finally acknowledged the herb’s therapeutic utility for patients living with disease or suffering from the adverse side-effects of cancer treatment.

In a newly added section to the website, entitled ‘Cannabis and Cannabinoids,’ the Institute states:

Cannabinoids may cause antitumor effects by various mechanisms, including induction of cell death, inhibition of cell growth, and inhibition of tumor angiogenesis and metastasis. Cannabinoids appear to kill tumor cells but do not affect their nontransformed counterparts and may even protect them from cell death.”

…The potential benefits of medicinal cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep. In the practice of integrative oncology, the health care provider may recommend medicinal cannabis not only for symptom management but also for its possible direct antitumor effect.”

It’s a stunning acknowledgment, given that the NIH is a branch of the very same government that presently maintains that the cannabis plant and all of its naturally-derived components have ‘no accepted medical use.’ Yet it also begs the question: Where has the National Institute of Cancer been all these years?

After all, the anti-tumor activity of cannabinoids were initially documented in 1975! That’s right; it’s taken 36 years for the Institute to get with the program.

Hopefully it won’t take them another 36 years to demand that the Feds finally assess whether these preclinical results are replicable in human trials.

In the first 24 hours of the Libyan attack, US B-2s dropped forty-five 2,000-pound bombs. These massive bombs, along with the Cruise missiles launched from British and French planes and ships, all contained depleted uranium (DU) warheads.

DU is the waste product from the process of enriching uranium ore. It is used in nuclear weapons and reactors. Because it is a very heavy substance, 1.7 times denser than lead, it is highly valued by the military for its ability to punch through armored vehicles and buildings. When a weapon made with a DU tip strikes a solid object like the side of a tank, it goes straight through it, then erupts in a burning cloud of vapor. The vapor settles as dust, which is not only poisonous, but also radioactive.
An impacting DU missile burns at 10,000 degrees C. When it strikes a target, 30% fragments into shrapnel. The remaining 70% vaporises into three highly-toxic oxides, including uranium oxide. This black dust remains suspended in the air and, according to wind and weather, can travel over great distances. If you think Iraq and Libya are far away, remember that radiation from Chernobyl reached Wales.

Particles less than 5 microns in diameter are easily inhaled and may remain in the lungs or other organs for years. Internalized DU can cause kidney damage, cancers of the lung and bone, skin disorders, neurocognitive disorders, chromosome damage, immune deficiency syndromes and rare kidney and bowel diseases. Pregnant women exposed to DU may give birth to infants with genetic defects. Once the dust has vaporised, don't expect the problem to go away soon. As an alpha particle emitter, DU has a half life of 4.5 billion years.

In the 'shock and awe' attack on Iraq, more than 1,500 bombs and missiles were dropped on Baghdad alone. Seymour Hersh has claimed that the US Third Marine Aircraft Wing alone dropped more than "five hundred thousand tons of ordnance". All of it DU-tipped.

Al Jazeera reported that invading US forces fired two hundred tons of radioactive material into buildings, homes, streets and gardens of Baghdad. A reporter from the Christian Science Monitor took a Geiger counter to parts of the city that had been subjected to heavy shelling by US troops. He found radiation levels 1,000 to 1,900 times higher than normal in residential areas. With its population of 26 million, the US dropped a one-ton bomb for every 52 Iraqi citizens or 40 pounds of explosives per person.

William Hague has said that we are in Libya " to protect civilians and civilian-populated areas".You don't have to look far for who and what are being 'protected'.

In that first 24 hours the 'Allies' 'expended' £100 million on DU-tipped ordnance. The European Union's arms control report said member states issued licences in 2009 for the sale of £293.2 million worth of weapons and weapons systems to Libya. Britain issued arms firms licences for the sale of £21.7 million worth of weaponry to Libya and were also paid by Colonel Gadaffi to send the SAS to train his 32nd Brigade.

For the next 4.5 billion years, I'll bet that William Hague will not be holidaying in North Africa.

Naming Names - Your Secret Government

This is your real government; they transcend elected administrations, they permeate every political party, and they are responsible for nearly every aspect of the average American and European's way of life. When the "left" is carrying the torch for two "Neo-Con" wars, starting yet another based on the same lies, peddled by the same media outlets that told of Iraqi WMD's, the world has no choice, beyond profound cognitive dissonance, but to realize something is wrong.

What's wrong is a system completely controlled by a corporate-financier oligarchy with financial, media, and industrial empires that span the globe. If we do not change the fact that we are helplessly dependent on these corporations that regulate every aspect of our nation politically, and every aspect of our lives personally, nothing else will ever change.

The following list, however extensive, is by far not all-inclusive. However after these examples, a pattern should become self-evident with the same names and corporations being listed again and again. It should be self-evident to readers of how dangerously pervasive these corporations have become in our daily lives. Finally, it should be self-evident as to how necessary it is to excise these corporations from our lives, our communities, and ultimately our nations, with the utmost expediency.

While the Telegraph mentioned that Price and Kabraji were both analysts for the Chatham House, they failed to tell readers that the Telegraph itself retains a corporate membership within the Chatham House as does the Thai protest leader's lobbyist, Robert Amsterdam and his Amsterdam & Peroff lobbying firm.

Paramount Join Pirate Bay for "the Tunnel"

You might be surprised to hear this but it is for real. Paramount Pictures is planning to release its upcoming movie The Tunnel through everybody's favorite BitTorrent protocols. The Tunnel is expected to be put on the Torrents officially on May 19. It's like giving away music for free (Hint: Radiohead) but if you want some additional premium content, you'll have to pay for it.

The Tunnel is a tale about the real-life tunnels that still exist in Sydney, Australia. This isn't first time wherein the movie makers have taken the Bittorrent route as in past Nasty Old People movie was being heavily distributed via the famous The Pirate Bay trackers. Australian company Distracted Media, which is the producer of the movie, is selling individual frames of the movie for a dollar at www.thetunnelmovie.net. The movie will be released on Bittorrent in May and will simultaneously be released on DVD by Paramount Pictures. So basically, it's a worldwide premiere where anyone can download the movie via Internet and watch it for free.

If you have the movie then why buy the DVD? It's because most of the times, the DVD release has additional footage, behind the sides and alternate ending. Wonder if users will buy it actually or else those contents would also be ripped and put up on the Bittorrent trackers - just being realistic over here.

Enzo Tedeschi, producer of The Tunnel, told TorrenFreak about releasing the movie via Bittorrent, "From day one we ve maintained that The Tunnel is not supporting or condoning piracy, but instead trying to incorporate a legitimate use of peer-to-peer in our distribution strategy internationally."

Anyhow, this is quite a futuristic and different approach by an independent movie maker. We really wish to watch The Tunnel after downloading it off Bittorrent, officially.

RISE! - UK Revolution 26 March

On 26th March the protests are coming to the UK. THIS IS GOING TO BE BIG! Change you CAN believe in.

A huge demonstration of the whole working class movement, the trade unions, youth and communities suffering cuts will take place on 26 March.

The march will certainly see hundreds of thousands — perhaps over a million people take to the streets of London.

Stop the Bombing NOW!

Since Saturday night, the United States, France, and Britain have been bombing Libya with cruise missiles, B-2 stealth bombers, F-16 and F-15 fighter jets, and Harrier attack jets. There is no reliable estimate of the number of civilians killed. The U.S. has taken the lead in the punishing bombing campaign to carry out United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973.

The resolution authorizes UN Member States “to take all necessary measures . . . to protect civilians and civilian populated areas under threat of attack in the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, including Benghazi, while excluding a foreign occupation force of any form on any part of Libyan territory.” The military action taken exceeds the bounds of the “all necessary measures” authorization.

“All necessary measures” should first have been peaceful measures to settle the conflict. But peaceful means were not exhausted before Obama began bombing Libya. A high level international team – consisting of representatives from the Arab League, the Organization of African Unity, and the UN Secretary General – should have been dispatched to Tripoli to attempt to negotiate a real cease-fire, and set up a mechanism for elections and for protecting civilians.

There is no doubt that Muammar Qaddafi has been brutally repressing Libyans in order to maintain his power. But the purpose of the United Nations is to maintain international peace and security. The burgeoning conflict in Libya is a civil war, which arguably does not constitute a threat to international peace and security.

The UN Charter commands that all Members settle their international disputes by peaceful means, to maintain international peace, security, and justice. Members must also refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state or in any manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.

Only when a State acts in self-defense, in response to an armed attack by one country against another, can it militarily attack another State under the UN Charter. The need for self-defense must be overwhelming, leaving no choice of means, and no moment for deliberation. Libya has not attacked another country. The United States, France and Britain are not acting in self-defense. Humanitarian concerns do not constitute self-defense.

the Census Rebellion 2011

I find this absolutely wonderful…

At every turn now I’m seeing a whole host of people from every class, creed, religion, ideology AND politic persuasions across the entire spectrum, but all with a consensus that is damn near universal.

So many ideas, so many views, all telling the corporate State, this intrusion a step too far and answer it with a resounding – I’m telling you jack diddly squat, mate! But I have noticed a distinct lack of support from those we’d say as having ‘clout’, in the eyes of the masses, those being the officials, the mainstream media and talking heads, the journalists with any integrity left, the personalities even the CELEBRITIES… (yes I know, scrapping the barrel there with that last one!) But then, it’s hardly sexy, is it, not much scope for getting on the next chat show except as the oddity, a stitch up, or just for comic relief…

Even the serial conformists are having issues with a great deal of the 2011 fiasco, not just the invasive, irrelevant questions, but the choice of Lockheed Martin as the agent for the ONS. Have we all sunk so low, are we truly become the apathetic wretches who are so cowed, so servile, that we shrink and tug a forelock to those men and women in government?

Oh I have seen a few notable exceptions, many, many great articles detailing with this subject, but few personalities were weighing in and then I had to stand corrected… In strode Janet Street Porter with her indomitable flair and typical ‘shoot from the hip’ attitude to brighten my day.

How can the simple job of gathering information about the population once every ten years, which started out in 1801 as a single sheet of paper, have morphed into this costly (£480 million and rising) exercise during a period of national financial hardship?

If we can’t afford help for carers, child day-care centres, meals on wheels and libraries, how can we bloody well afford this grandiose census? We are told it’s justified because the information allows the Government to plan grants to local authorities and to decide how much money to allocate for future health care.

The stuff about our homes helps to formulate future strategy for housing. If we tell them how we get to work, apparently it will help with the planning of transport systems and new roads.

And pigs can fly. Every time a new road, bus or rail route is planned, what happens?

There’s a fresh consultation exercise. Ditto when it comes to new housing and hospitals — there’s always a need for up-to-date information and research. More questionnaires, more information, more money spent.

I’ll leave that article with a thought, a small pondering of mine… Just who has more balls, Janet Street Porter?… Or the traitorous ConDem coalition?… Tough call, isn’t it?

This one from Big Brother Watch tickled my fancy for sure.

The real question depends on the number of people, who either by not returning, defacing or directly challenging the applicability of census via the No Contract – Return To Sender, conditional acceptance, religious reasons, support of State terrorism, or whatever… and dealing with potential doorstep intrusions…

Even then it’s hardly an issue for even the most timid, a simple NO TRESPASS notice prominently displayed, bring it to their agents attention and close the door. Too simple? Then why did Census director Glen Watson have this to say on the subject back in July 2010:

“We have to have made contact. So quite a lot of the people that don’t return the questionnaire, our census field staff have not been able to make any contact and you cannot prosecute a house.“

LIBYA - Another War, Another Pack of Lies

The corporate-financiers are dangerously flirting with their entire official narrative collapsing, as their progressive, Peace-Prize wearing puppet President Obama and the “radical reformer” David Cameron lead yet another war based on an Iraq-style pack of lies.

After weeks of peddling a litany of verifiable lies, the West has forgone any attempt to justify or veil their actions in legitimacy and has decided to go ahead with a UN rubber-stamped “no-fly zone.” Far from having anything to do with preventing Qaddafi’s planes from flying, the no-fly zone has translated into full-scale missile and aerial bombardments across Libya aimed at turning the tide for freshly rearmed Western-backed rebels.

The pack of lies.

Indeed, the same London Telegraph now dashing across their headlines “Britain and America have rained missiles on Libya as Col Muammar Gaddafi defied the world and continued to attack civilians,” told us in the early stages of the US-backed Libyan unrest that Qaddafi had fled to Venezuela, citing “credible Western intelligence sources.”

Of course, evidence that Qaddafi has been “attacking civilians” has not yet been produced in any shape form or way with US Department of Defense’s Robert Gates and Admiral Mullen in fact, both confirming “We’ve seen no confirmation whatsoever.” Additionally, BBC made an apparently little read footnote that their reports were impossible to verify.

BBC states in their article “The difficulty of reporting from inside Libya:” “The BBC and other news organisations are relying on those on the ground to tell us what’s happening. Their phone accounts – often accompanied by the sound or gunfire and mortars – are vivid. However, inevitably, it means we cannot independently verify the accounts coming out of Libya. That’s why we don’t present such accounts as “fact” – they are “claims” or “allegations”.”

What can be confirmed?

What we can confirm, is that the entire Libyan rebel movement has been backed by the US and UK for nearly 3o years. We can confirm that the initial calls for a Libyan “Day of Rage” came not from the streets of Benghazi, but from the London based National Conference for Libyan Opposition (NCLO). We can confirm that NCLO leader Ibrahim Sahad was literally sitting in front of the White House giving an interview to the Western media in the opening stages of the Libyan unrest, parroting verbatim the West’s desire to militarily intervene with a no-fly zone.

Don’t Let Cameron Get Away With His Untruths About Cannabis. Write A Letter!

So I wrote to Mr Cameron asking for a meeting about several factual inaccuracies in his answers. I know that many of you wrote in support.

There are four crucial issues involved:

Mr Cameron said that cannabis is:

1.”incredibly damaging”

2. “very, very toxic”

3. “and leads to, in many cases, huge mental health problems”

And then, with regard to medicinal cannabis, he said:

4. “That is a matter for the science and medical authorities to determine and they are free to make independent determinations about that.”

Now these are all inaccurate and false statements. Mr Cameron is, at the very least, misinformed. Clearly, there is an absolute obligation on him to correct these errors and to do so immediately.

When I hadn’t received a reply after about a week, on 9th March 2011 I wrote again:

Dear Mr Cameron,

I wrote to you just over a week ago (copy attached) asking for a meeting concerning your Al Jazeera YouTube interview about cannabis.

I represent a very substantial body of opinion in Britain which is deeply concerned at how inaccurate and misleading your words were. I know that you will have received many letters supporting my request for a meeting with you.

I still have faith that you do want to take account of public opinion and promote a policy that is fact and evidence based as well as having the consent of the majority. Please will you now agree to see me?

Personally, I am very worried when I see my prime minister speaking such untruths about a subject that I know about. It makes me wonder how accurate is your understanding of other issues. I hope that our economic, defence and social policy is being run on the basis of knowledge, rather than the misunderstanding you seem to have about cannabis.

Please can we arrange a meeting?

Supermoon On Its Way MARCH 19TH

YAHOO NEWS: Will March 19 'Supermoon' Trigger Natural Disasters? On March 19, the moon will swing around Earth more closely than it has in the past 18 years, lighting up the night sky from just 221,567 miles (356,577 kilometers) away. On top of that, it will be full. And one astrologer believes it could inflict massive damage on the planet.

Richard Nolle, a noted astrologer who runs the website www.astropro.com, has famously termed the upcoming full moon at lunar perigee (the closest approach during its orbit) an "extreme supermoon."

When the moon goes super-extreme, Nolle says, chaos will ensue: Huge storms, earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural disasters can be expected to wreak havoc on Earth. (It should be noted that astrology is not a real science, but merely makes connections between astronomical and mystical events.)

But do we really need to start stocking survival shelters in preparation for the supermoon?

The question is not actually so crazy.

the Arrest and Rescue of 'Judge' Peake

By now videos of the events in Birkenhead County Court on 7th March 2011 will have been seen around the world. If one looks closely, they were in the good old British tradition of protest. The people there had gone beyond the "muttering amongst themselves in pubs and at bus stops" stage of discontent with the Establishment, through "someone ought to do something about it" to "I will do something".

I strongly suspect that for each person present on the day, there were tens of thousands who agreed wholeheartedly with them "and felt themselves accursed they were not there" (to quote Shakespeare) and now are looking forward to the next opportunity to publicly express their discontent. And the Establishment knows this too.

The people who were there - and close inspection of the footage will confirm this - were from all walks of life and parts of the UK and shared our traditional values of insisting on fair play whilst maintaining our standards of politeness and good humour. They ranged from a 90 year old granny from Newcastle who can be seen politely putting the hapless Council officials sitting in the front row of the Courtroom right on a few things to some scary looking "Scottish Sovereigns" in full war paint in the Crowd outside.

Do not mistake the volume of sound that the crowd generated with violence. Queues were formed by police and protestors going in and out of the Court. No policeman’s hats were knocked off (a traditional sign of severe discontent amongst the British). Black umbrellas bearing “Lawful Rebellion” stickers were brandished. No-one was hurt.

No one was hurt, except the man in the green fleece jacket who was arrested in the Court as he tried to get to the Judges exit door from the Court in order to prevent his escape. He was handcuffed and his wrists were chaffed. He took it well, vigorously protested his innocence verbally and encouraged his supporters to start a cry of "welease wodger" (a reference to Roger Hayes and the stuttering Roman official in the Monty Python film "Life of Brian"). The British sense of humour intact and another warning sign for the Establishment. People are beginning to laugh at them.

While this was going on, behind them can be seen "Judge" Peake (not on duty until he has confirmed that he is on oath, of course) wearing a "modernised" Judicial Robe that looked suspiciously like a long dress and a hint of eye shadow. A sign of a decadent establishment perhaps?

Moments before he had uttered the famous last words "I did not think so many people would be interested in your bankruptcy Mr Hayes". Now a large gentleman in a black jacket was confirming that the Judge himself was under arrest for treason and contempt of Court and reassuring him that he would not be hurt.

The Judge, to give him credit and entering into the spirit of things , apparently said "I suppose that the case is adjourned. I hand it over to you". The noise level in the room increased further, and the Judge was bundled out of the room by Court officials. No matter. We know his name and where he works, we can get back to him later. "Escape" is a common law offence but it is the least of his problems.

Light Up the Sky for Cannabis

On April 20th 2011 at 9pm, there is a peaceful protest movement in the name of ending cannabis prohibition. There has been a unique hybrid style of events that have conjured this idea, and there is an interesting back-story to the whole affair.

What do you have to do to take part? Well, simply release a biodegradable sky lantern - preferably with a message of protest - into the sky on April 20th at 9pm.

If you do not wish to release a sky lantern, then I urge you to think of your own means in doing something on this date to raise awareness for the end of prohibition. It is for every responsible and civilised adult to act in accordance with their beliefs of what is correct. Light Up the Sky is asking for nothing more than a unity of noise makers, and for a consolidation of efforts in the name of a global & reciprocated cause that has now become the blight of society. Prohibition in the UK is funding a £6billion profiteering racket to the hard-line criminals, cannabis prohibition in the UK & North America is making it easy for children to obtain. Prohibition also directly funds human trafficking.

The law has failed catastrophically, and this reason alone is why I am prepared to place my hand on the gambling table of media manipulation, and I stand by my fellow compatriots who have decided to act in this particular movement. I am a responsible citizen, and I will act as such by supporting - in my humble way - Light Up the Sky on April 20th 2011.
