God Save Us From The Queen's Diamond Jubilee

God Save Us From The Queen

Activist Post

Union flags are fluttering, bunting is being hoisted, and excitement is mounting amongst the fawning peasants of Great Britain, as the country prepares for The Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Whilst the serfs must wait 75 years to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee, godlike monarchs enjoy the momentous day fifteen years earlier; and so, on June 2nd, millions of Her Majesty's faithful subjects will celebrate sixty years of Queen Elizabeth's rule.

Don't mention the fact that our country is sinking under the weight of colossal debts racked up by a corrupt political and financial elite.

Keep quiet about the shameful succession of illegal and immoral wars fought by Liz's British armed forces, which have killed and injured untold numbers of people. Shhh! Don't dare to express the idea that we are all born equal. It's simply the talk of a gibbering lunatic.

We, the slaves of Britain, will not have our nice day spoiled!

We wish to remain in a state of wilful servility, cheerfully celebrating our own powerlessness, gleefully complicit in our own oppression, blindly supporting an institution and a system representing all that is wrong with humanity.

Will the Diamond Jubilee mark a last hurrah for the British monarchy? Unfortunately, if we are to believe recent polls, the answer appears a resounding "no". Depressingly, 80% of respondents voiced their support of the monarchy, with only 13% in favour of Britain becoming a republic.

Thankfully there are a minority of Brits who reject the role of fawning subjects to a parasitical royal family. The organisation Republic, who campaign for "a democratic alternative to the monarchy", are planning a high profile protest against the Diamond Jubilee on June 3rd. Republic have promised a “loud, bold and provocative” demonstration, to be held in full view of the Queen's royal barge as she disembarks at Tower Bridge in London.

Giving hope to those who question the reported upsurge in support for the monarchy, Republic's chief executive Graham Smith has issued an encouraging rallying call to fellow anti-monarchists, saying that
The heightened Palace PR campaign of the last eighteen months has already backfired – people are sick and tired of being told they must celebrate 60 years of one very privileged, very remote and very uninspiring head of state. The idea that the monarchy’s future is any safer as a result of the jubilee is completely laughable.
As the Western public continues its awakening to the exploitative agendas of a criminal elite, we can only hope that he is correct - and that support for the vampiric monarchy will be seen someday soon as absurd, reactionary, and wholly outdated.

So is that why they call it Indica?

Whilst in the West cannabis is a much maligned and demonised plant, for those who share my cultural background it has largely been regarded as benign or beneficial, and even a sacred plant for over 4,000 years.

Growing up I often heard accounts of a ‘mysterious’ substance known as bhang. My granddad would often regale us with stories about parties where they’d imbibe bhang lassi, a milkshake type drink, and then dance the night away.

Talking about bhang wasn’t ever taboo in my family, but then I didn’t exactly know what the word actually meant!! Aged 11 my curiosity finally got the better of me and one weekend I asked my granddad, “What is this bhang that you speak so fondly of?” My granddad looked sternly towards me, “Oh shit!” I thought “I should have kept my mouth shut!!” My granddad got up out of his seat, walked over towards me and told me to follow him. He led me out to the garden and into his greenhouse, there growing amongst the chillies, tomatoes, and peppers was the familiar five fingered leaf I recognised as being associated with hippies or Rastafarianism. “There that’s bhang” he said. “But isn’t that drugs?” I enquired. “Any substance can be abused and that is wrong but this, when used sensibly, is heaven sent and was given to us by Rab (God)…”

Cannabis has a long history in India, veiled in legends, spirituality and religion. It is in The Vedas that you find the earliest mention of cannabis. Sacred Hindu texts, these writings are thought to have been compiled as early as 2000 B.C. It is written that cannabis was one of five sacred plants given to man at the creation of the world, regarded as a source of happiness, the joy-giver, a liberator that was compassionately given to humans to help us attain delight and lose all fear. The Hindu god, Shiva is frequently associated with cannabis. According to legend, Shiva wandered off into the fields after an altercation with his family. Drained from the family squabble and the beating midday sun, he fell asleep under a leafy plant. When he awoke, his curiosity led him to sample the leaves of the plant, feeling instantly rejuvenated, Shiva made the plant his favourite food and he became known as the Lord of Bhang. To this day it is still commonly consumed by Shivaite yogis, ascetics, and worshippers of Shiva, as an aid to their sadhana (spiritual practice).

During the Middle Ages, soldiers often took a drink of bhang before entering battle, just as Westerners took a swig of whiskey or brandy. One story tells of the Sikh leader Gobind Singh’s soldiers being scared by an attacking elephant with a sword in his trunk. Terrified, the men nearly mutinied until Singh gave one courageous man, who he had named his “colourful midget”, a mixture of bhang and opium. The herbs gave him the strength and agility to slip under the elephant from below and kill it without endangering himself. This act of courage led Singh’s men to victory over the enemy.

My granddad always said that using cannabis helped him achieve a state of mind he referred to as “Charhdi Kala”. He explained that one’s attitude is central to life’s experience, Charhdi Kala in general terms was a positive, buoyant and ever optimistic disposition, it is an equivalence of a mind that never despairs, never admits defeat and refuses to be crushed by adversities. He said that this state of mind was essential to fulfilling one’s duties and obligations as a Sikh.

The Sikhs of Punjab are amongst the biggest consumers of cannabis in religious texts. Created by Guru Gobind Singh, Sukhnidhan (the peace giver) is still prepared today by the Nihangs or Warrior Sikhs just as it was over 300 years ago. A mixture of nuts, poppy seeds, black pepper, rose petals, cardamom seeds, melon seeds which are all ground together with cannabis, then to make it drinkable, water, milk and sugar are added to the mix. Today Sukhnidhan is still consumed by the Sikhs on special occasions, festivals, parties or for spiritual uplift and meditation.

Other preparations of cannabis in India include ganja and charas. Stronger than bhang, ganja is made from the flowers and upper leaves of the female plant. Charas is the strongest preparation and is made from rubbing the sticky, resinous blooming flowers. Similar in strength to hashish, charas contains a lot of resin. Both are smoked in an earthenware pipe called a chillum. The pipe is usually shared among 2 to 5 people, making the smoking of cannabis a communal activity. My granddad is a strong believer in the communal consumption of cannabis and his favourite method still remains my gran’s special Bhang Pakoras.

During the ‘Raj’ the British found the use of cannabis to be so extensive in colonial India, that they commissioned a large scale study in the late 1890s. The British government asked the government of India to appoint a commission to look into the cultivation of the hemp plant, preparation of drugs from it, trade in those drugs, the social and moral impact of its consumption, and the possibility of prohibition. The commission was systematic and thorough. It sampled a large and diverse group of people in a range of situations, from farmers to hospital psychiatrists. After years of thorough and well conducted research, the Commission concluded that “suppressing the use of bhang would be totally unjustifiable. Its use is very ancient, has some religious sanction among Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists, and is harmless in moderation”. In fact, it was stated that more harm was done by alcohol, and that prohibition would be difficult to enforce, be likely to result in outcries by religious clerics, and possibly lead to the use of more dangerous narcotics. These findings of The Indian Hemp Drugs Commission Report of 1894, conducted over 100 years ago, are still surprisingly relevant today.

Cannabis continues to be available in India as of the 20th and 21st centuries. Hindus use bhang for religious ceremonies like Holi and ascetics use it to seek divinity. Sadhus are Indian ascetics who have shunned material life and use cannabis to seek spiritual freedom. They live simply in the forest and wear ragged clothing. By emphasizing physical austerity through celibacy and fasting, cannabis helps Sadhus transcend ordinary reality and achieve transcendence. Today, bhang is so common in some parts of India that it can be found on government licensed street stands and Bhang shops.

Even after nearly 4000 years cannabis is still being used in Ayurvedic and Indian medicine to treat a variety of health conditions, including nausea , wasting syndromes, pain, epilepsy, tumours and is also prescribed for general health and longevity. To this day body builders in India use cannabis as a part of their training regime to gain muscle mass, promote digestion, and build strength. Slowly the west is finally beginning to recognise the true values of this remarkable plant, and that us Indians had it right all along!! ;-)

Facebook Fiasco

by Staff Report

The selloff in Facebook shares deepened on Tuesday, as investors continued to question the stock's valuation after Reuters reported that underwriters cut their revenue forecasts for the company before the IPO. Facebook's shares hit a low of $30.98 on Tuesday, 8.9 percent below Monday's close, and a loss of 18 percent from their $38 IPO price. – CNBC

Dominant Social Theme: The failure of Facebook is a success, nonetheless. It's Zen; don't try to understand it.

Free-Market Analysis: Facebook's stock price is down something like 20 percent from the IPO price and the damage control is being done two ways.

First, the downward spiral is being treated as business-as-usual. Second, it's being treated as part of a larger upward ascension.

We don't see it either way, of course. The Facebook fumble will now further confirm the general alienation that the US baby-boom generation is feeling when it comes to stocks and investing generally.

We've written a number of articles about this. We've called what occurred in the 20th century a "dreamtime" – an era when central bank money printing sent stocks upward with gravity-defying force.

Fiat money is the stock market's best friend. But in the 21st century – by design or otherwise – investing as a methodology of securing one's retirement is increasingly being revealed as a promotional ploy of the powers-that-be.

The power elite that wants to run the world also evidently and obviously controls central banking. If one wants to chain the world to paper money then the best way to do so is to give people a stake in it. And the best way to do that is to tie people's "retirements" to fiat money. And that's just what has happened.

But in the 21st century, thanks to what has taken place in the larger economy and thanks to the abysmal performance of the stock market itself, people are growing increasingly distrustful.

Here, at random are some feedback entries to the article excerpted above.

• Here's the thing: even if Faceplant becomes an also-ran and those nascent fools who bet on this dog lose their shirts, CNBC will spin it positive. They will never admit to the galactic shilling/shellacking they they did, the CNBC Faceplant crackwhores.

• Anyone else notice how CNBC blocked comments on Facebook articles during the IPO. Facebook is a fad and the IPO is just one big "legal" pump and dump.

• Finally CNBC allows us to comment on the whole pump and dump facebook IPO. For a moment I thought CNBC was blocking all bad facebook propaganda. The only thing I am concerned with is that I hope small investors are not the ones that got shafted by MS! Remember once people start to see adds and information being sold then goodbye users.

People, even those whom one would think might be sympathetic to market-based participation, are growing wary. Too much has taken place in the past four years for even the most committed investor to be sure of the veracity of the system as it is.

The question then becomes ... is this by design or happenstance. The answer in our view involves the organization of the modern market itself. it is, unquestionably, an artificial phenomenon and, as well, a manipulated one.

It is manipulated day-to-day by such quasi-government facilities as the "plunge protection team" and it is manipulated in the larger sense by the interaction between central banking and securities money flows. As has been amply shown in the past four years, even such investment stars as Warren Buffet have a hard time "investing" during bear-market cycles.

In fact, the world's stock markets, certainly the Western ones, continue to struggle with a bull-market in money metals and a bear market in fiat-paper money. Central bank money (fiat money) did well in the '50s, '60s and in the '80s and '90s. Gold roared back to life in the '70s and 2000s.

The markets are currently grapped in a Golden Bull that has been running since about 2000 and has plenty of legs left to run. We've presented this argument numerous times in the past. It is a predictive argument, but based on the larger marketplace patterns inflicted by central banking drivers.

These are predictable as well. The central bank overprints money and causes booms and then busts. Currently, the powers-that-be are refusing to unwind the distorted banking system, which is giving rise to continued unemployment and the Golden Bull itself.

These are simply facts. The power elite itself is distorting the market that it provides the driver for. The driver is fiat money and the refusal to unwind is what propels the larger cycle.

From our point of view, and given the artificial nature of the system itself, the larger investment phenomena are being determined as well. A decision has likely been made at some level to drag out the pain and continue the chaos.

And this is what's having such a corrosive effect on investors' animal spirits. In the era of what we call the Internet Reformation, the dominant social theme of investment-oriented retirements continues to slip away.

Those involved with the markets, managers, brokers and planners instinctively defend the market as it is. But it seems to us that it is a market at war with itself. Those at the very top who organized, orchestrated, the current marketplace are also in our view those who are responsible for its current funk.

it is a delicate balancing as we have remarked previously. World government of some sort is being prodded and pushed forward along with a good deal of chaos. The trick is to develop enough, but not too much.

Conclusion: The public markets are not "coming back" until the current bull-metals cycle has run its course. And that will take a good deal of additional time.

The Pirate Bay Proxy, an Open Internet and Censorship

by ajehals
Virgin Media Blocking the Pirate BayThe Pirate Party UK has hosted a proxy (tpb.pirateparty.org.uk), allowing people to connect to the Pirate Bay via Pirate Party servers since the 19th of April 2012. We provided the proxy as a tool for users on networks where the Pirate Bay is blocked through filtering, and in support of our sister party in the Netherlands. It continues to be a legitimate route for those affected by court orders issued to some (but not all) UK ISP's requiring the site to be blocked. Whilst some providers continue to allow access to the web in an unfiltered manner, others are limiting access to specific parts of the internet.

To date our proxy has seen in excess of 10 million hits, with almost 2 million additional visitors making use of the proxy each day, more than 5 GigaBytes of data (but not content) has been transferred in the last 24 hours alone.

Our position in this area is clear. Communications providers should not be responsible for the content that crosses their networks. Users should be able to make the decision as to what they access online. The ability of the courts to impose ad-hoc blackouts on parts of the web prevents the wider discussion of these issues and puts service providers into a position where they become increasingly responsible for the content which is accessed via their networks. This in turn will lead to increased self censorship, pressure on ISP's to censor legitimate content and mistakes. In short it harms the internet and through it, the world!.

We believe in freedom of expression and the right to express ideas and share information freely. Censorship, whether online or off, is not a valid solution in protecting either our cultural or economic future, if anything it anchors us to the past, harming innovation and propping up failed business models. It certainly isn't something that will reduce extremism or the spread of radical ideas, nor will it prevent child abuse. Censorship's only impact is to hide an underlying problem, allowing politicians and lobbyists to pretend it does not exist, or to announce that they have acted, rather than dealing with that problem directly. In the meantime, legitimate expression is stifled.

A free and open Internet is the cornerstone of any free and open modern society. It is essential for democracy, artistic expression, education and innovation, and we are deeply worried when we see unaccountable corporate interests being allowed to censor it via courts using legislation passed by Governments that do not understand the technology. It is a slippery slope: today, in the Hague, the Pirate Party Netherlands was forbidden from even discussing the means to circumvent state censorship, China censors dissenting opinion on public safety grounds, many authoritarian regimes have been criticised for preventing access to social media and anti-government opinions.

The UK is slowly building the infrastructure and processes to implement censorship through web-blocking orders, blacklists and excessive monitoring regimes, it is allowing corporate interests to exert excessive power online and even discussing the repression of unacceptable discussions with it's counter radicalisation programmes.
We believe that this kind of censorship is utterly unacceptable, and we will continue to fight against censorship in all forms, using all lawful means at our disposal.

Marijuana Found to Kill Cancer Cells – The Marijuana and Cancer Relationship

Patrick Gallagher
Activist Post

Thanks to the available findings of a 2006 study showing that cannabis actually reduces the number of cancer cells, medical marijuana users can now feel even better about the widely abolished pain relief ingredient found in the plant.

The relationship between marijuana and cancer has always been up for debate, but with the use of a specially crafted oil made from the buds of the Cannabis Sativa plant, scientists confirmed that the plant’s primary psychoactive chemical tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) destroys any and all malignant cancer cell growths in several patients.

Details on the marijuana and cancer prevention connection aren’t exactly known, but further, more extensive testing will reveal exactly what may be causing this seemingly miracle cure.

Back in 2006, the study was developed by a team of medical researchers at the Virginia Commonwealth University’s Pharmacology and Toxicology department on leukemia patients. The researchers essentially outlined that if taken daily for an extended period of time, cannabis oil actually reverses the growth of cancer and possibly leads to remission in the patient – with zero added side effects.

Typically when a leukemia patient enters a hospital for admission and treatment, they are given a very extensive chemotherapy treatment, usually paired with a radiological treatment. Instead of considering any possible treatment involving marijuana and cancer, doctors use these not only ineffective, but also dangerous treatments. Cannabis, on the other hand, as shown in the study, has virtually no side effects. It is especially safe and effective when administered in a clean, medically sound environment and in the form of oil.

Other studies have been made over the past decades much like this one: Manuel Guzman located in Madrid, Spain discovered that cannabinoids substantially inhibit the growth of tumors in a variety of lab animals. In the study he also found that not one of these tested animals endured any kind of side effects seen in many similar chemotherapy treatments.

It is becoming increasingly clear that you can sidestep any of the misery associated with traditional cancer treatments and embrace the potent, effective healing powers of THC – not to forget about the positive attributes surrounding cannabis’ other primary cannabinoid, cannabidiol (CBD).

If the results don’t appeal to you, then maybe the 2,500 total studied patients throughout these 37 controlled studies will blow the lid off the myth that cannabis is and can only be used as a “dangerous” drug. None of the patients reported any kind of adverse side effects from the use of THC-based medication – further adding to the benefits of medical marijuana and strengthening the positive connection between marijuana and cancer.

The real irony in the situation here? The combined governments of the world are the primary authority behind more than 30 studies like these completed throughout the years – and they have kept them secret from the general public. It wouldn’t be very conducive for our government if word got out that a schedule 1 narcotic could actually help people.

Supermoon

From Digital Tibetan Buddhist Altar: "Saturday, 5 May 2012 at 3.35pm GMT in the UK will witness this year's 'supermoon,' coinciding with a full moon, and if you have never witnessed one, now is a chance you won't want to miss." The Supermoon occurs when the moon's perigee (closest point to Earth) coincides with the full moon phase. There is a short NASA video on the Supermoon here.

The moon will likely outshine the annual Eta Aquarid meteor shower, which willl also be hitting its peak. Conspiracy theorists claim that Supermoons cause earthquakes. But astronomers and seismologists deny this. The Digital Tibetan Buddhist Altar also has an eastern astrological assessment of this full moon. For a western astrological view, see Aurium Astrology, here.
