Last spring, Reason.tv released this video after the Federal Communication Commission chairman Julius Genachowski announced his agency's attention to use a "light touch" approach to the Internet. As the FCC pushes ahead with Net Neutrality rules that would regulate many aspects of the Internet, such a move deserves closer and closer scrutiny.
We're happy to re-release this video, which originally went live June 18, 2010.
From the original writeup:
The FCC has just taken initial steps to regulate the Internet service providers the same way it regulates telephone companies. Although Chairman Julius Genachowski has said he would use any regulatory powers with a "light touch," having the FCC control any aspect of the Internet is a really bad idea for at least three reasons.
Written and produced by Meredith Bragg and Nick Gillespie (who also hosts). Approximately 2.15 minutes.
