Maize Finale?


Knighton Hill, nr Wayland Smithy, Oxfordshire. Reported 29th August.

The arrival of this event, set on high ground above the plains of the beautiful Oxfordshire Countryside, and directly within the neighbouring field to the previous event on the 12th of August, epitomized the length of the 2009 season. However there is also a certain satisfaction, in that a natural cycle has been completed from the start of the season within Oil Seed Rape, Barley during the month of June, and Wheat in the July and August months. The Maize is the Curtain Closer crop to a season that will certainly remain in the memory banks for many people for a long time...
